- SUBJECT : NetWare 386 and NE3200 Card
- DATE : 6/12/90
- FYI # : 061290sb
- OS VERSION : 386
-
- GENERAL INFORMATION : There is a small oversight in the 386 v3.0 NE3200
- driver. The problem occurs when you run ethernet_ii and 802.3 on the same
- line as the 386 3.0 server which is using an NE3200 card. This can happen
- under two kinds of setups. 1) A 286 server with two ethernet cards in it both
- connected to the same cable and set to two different network addresses. 2)
- Two servers setup at different network addresses and one of them econfiged.
- The problem is that the driver for the NE3200 should filter out all of the
- packets that are the wrong type (802.3 or ethernet_II) and only allow the
- correct packets in. The NE3200 driver allows both types in which causes
- router errors.
