- SUBJECT : Cold Booting With Drives < 1024 Cylinders

- PROBLEM : When cold booting the file server you get
- garbage on the screen or errors reading the hot fix redirection
- table.
-
- SOLUTION : This problem sometimes occurs when using a
- hard drive that has more than 1024 cylinders. Some of the
- sectors of the Net$os.exe file may have been written to cylinders
- greater than 1024. Most likely, this would only happen if the
- operating system was re-installed.
-
- A work around is to backup your system and then use DOS 4.0 to
- install a bootable DOS partition. Then you can copy the
- Net$os.exe file to your C: drive and use an Autoexec.bat file to
- boot NetWare.
