  8. PROBLEM  : 1) Print jobs disappearing from the queue.
  9.  
  10. 2) Print queues themselves disappearing.
  11.  
  12. SOLUTION  : 1) If print jobs are disappearing and not getting printed the 
  13. problem is usually faulty printer hardware.  The job is sent to the printer 
  14. but because of a hardware problem it drops off into nowhere (sometimes 
  15. referred to as the "bit bucket").  Check the pinouts to make sure they are 
  16. correct.  Other things that can cause this problem are sheet feeders, and
  17. hardware switches installed between the printer port and the printer.

  19. This problem happens mostly on serial printers.
  20.  
  21. 2) If the print queue is actually disappearing then see if the customer is 
  22. running WordPerfect when it happens.  We have had this reported by 
  23. WordPerfect users.  See if they are capturing from WordPerfect.  If so, then
  24. have them print to the LPT port instead and use the CAPTURE command to 
  25. control printing to the network.
