  6.      The SHARP Digital Information Products (SDI) SYSOP to SYSOP Signon
  7. Special presents an opportunity for qualified Bulletin Board System
  8. operators to obtain a SHARP 9624 internal or SHARP 9624e external modem
  9. at specially reduced rates.

  11. What is special about SHARP 9624 Modems?
  12.      SHARP 9624 modems are the affordable high-speed modem. With EBR
  13. (Extended Baud Rate) and MNP5 data compression/error correction, you'll
  14. send and receive data at speeds up to 9600 bps error free. If the data
  15. is compressible, e.g. ANSI screens, ASCII files, .EXE files, then your
  16. throughput will be near 9600 bps. If the data is pre-compressed, e.g.
  17. .ZIP files, then the minimum throughput will be at least 4800 bps. 
  18.      Through EBR, the SHARP 9624 provides a 4800 bit per second full-
  19. duplex channel (between SHARP modems only) that transfers data twice as
  20. fast as 2400 MNP5 modems. Yet, the 9624 remains compatible with both your
  21. budget and everyone else's dial up modems at 2400, 1200 and 300 bps.
  22.      Note: The SHARP 9624 modems are not HST compatible, nor are they  
  23.            V.32 compatible.

  25. Why should my BBS have one?
  26.      If your BBS is running a 2400 modem and you want more throughput,
  27. but can't afford expensive V.32 technology, then the SHARP 9624 makes
  28. sense for your BBS. If your BBS is busy long-distance transferring files
  29. or net-mail, then you can use SHARP EBR-equipped modems to reduce your
  30. phone bill.
  31.      If your BBS uses full-duplex protocols, like BIMODEM, then the SHARP
  32. 9624 EBR-equipped modems provide you with simultaneous 9600 bps upload
  33. and 9600 bps download capability.

  36.      OCT '90 ... "When the (9624e) modems connected and the green EBR
  37. light went on, it was immediately apparent that the data was traveling
  38. much faster. The slow graphics screen updates that I'd grown used to were

  44.      Much less than the suggested retail of $299 for the 9624 internal
  45. and $399 for the external. The SYSOP price for the 9624 internal modem
  46. is $149 and the SYSOP price for the 9624e external modem is $199.

  49.      First, you need to complete and return the SYSOP AUTHORIZATION and
  50. SYSOP ORDER forms along with payment. Upon verification of payment and
  51. status as SYSOP of a working BBS, SHARP will ship the unit(s) requested.
