  15.      The WD1006V-SM1 controller is designed to interface with up to two 
  16.      Winchester ST506/ST412 hard disk drives in an IBM PC AT or compatible 
  17.      system and will support drives with up to 16 read/write heads and 
  18.      2048 cylinders.  Each drive may be a different configuration.  
  19.      
  20.      The WD1006V-SM2 also supports up to two floppy disk drives including 
  21.      360 KB, 720 KB, 1.2 Megabyte, and 1.44 Megabyte drives (5-1/4 inch or 
  22.      3-1/2 inch).  The WD1006V-SM2 also supports "intelligent" 1.44 
  23.      Megabyte media drives.  These intelligent drives obtain the drive 
  24.      type and data rate from the drive's media and do not depend upon the 
  25.      state of J1 pin 2 for this information.

  27.      The advanced design of the WD1006V-SM1 and WD1006V-SM2 implements the 
  28.      controllers' most significant features, 1:1 interleave and the look-
  29.      ahead track cache to improve the throughput to the host.

  31.      The following is a list of the most common hard disk drives which 
  32.      have been found to be compatible with the WD1006V-SM2 and WD1006V-SM2 
  33.      hard disk controllers.  For a more comprehensive list of hard disk 
  34.      drives and their parameters, please return to the STORAGE CONTROLLER
