- CD Rom Basic RE-INSTALLATION information:
-
- 1.) Make sure that there is a C:\SCSI subdirectory on the bootup hard
- drive.
-
- There should be at least these files in that directory:
-
- NECCDR.SYS
- MSCDEX.EXE
- SCSITEST.EXE
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
- If you don't have these files you should get the latest version of the
- drivers from our BBS at 1-508-635-6328 (1200/2400/9600, 8,n,1).

- SOFTWARE SETUP
- --------------------
-
- 2.) First run SCSITEST which will test the hardware installation and
- integrity. Run the TEST HARDWARE selection. It should follow through
- several menus and alert you to any potential problems.
-
- 3.) Next make sure that the following statements are the first and second
- lines in your CONFIG.SYS file in the root directory on your hard drive.
-
- DEVICE=C:\SCSI\NECCDR.SYS /D:NECCD
- LASTDRIVE=Z
-
- 4.) Finally for standard setup be sure that the following statement is the
- first line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file in the root directory on your hard
- drive.
-
- C:\SCSI\MSCDEX /D:NECCD /l:l
-
- Your CD-ROM drive will now be setup as drive L.
- If everything is setup correctly this should rectify any problems.
-
-

- ERROR MESSAGES
- -------------------
-
- If you encounter a CDR 101 error this is a designation that there is a
- timing problem.
-
- 1.) Verify that the cable is secure at the PC and at the CD-Reader.
-
- 2.) If you have the termination block in the back of the CDR77 or CDR72,
- remove it.
-
- 3.) If you do not have the termination block in the back of the CDR77 or
- CDR72, put it in.
-
- 4.) Try placing the card in another bus slot in the PC.
-
- 5.) If the machine is running in a TURBO mode, try a slower clock speed.
-
- 6.) Make sure the CD-Rom is in right-side-up.
-
- 7.) Make sure the dip switch settings on the SCSI card are in the correct
- position.
-
-
- If you encounter a CDR 103 - Disk not High Sierra or ISO 9660 format error,
- this is a designation that something in the system is overwriting the
- memory map of the SCSI card. The card should come with all dip switches in
- the down position. Refer to page 13 in the SCSI installation manual for
- card memory map settings or see above switch settings.
-
- Check to see that no other card in the system is using the memory map
- area that is set aside for the SCSI card. (Page 13)
-
- Check VGA cards. Most will grab other areas of memory that they
- shouldn't. If the VGA card is the culprit, try placing it in an 8 bit
- slot.
-
- Check memory maps of memory boards.
-
- Make sure that memory managers (usually implemented in the CONFIG.SYS
- statement) have the memory area excluded that the SCSI card is using.
-
- Check with the computer manufacturer about how to disable video, disk,
- bios, and system caching. All these features need to memory addressed.
