- This diskette contains a collection of files (at the Version 1.21 level) which
- provide support for the NEC Home Electronics SCSI Host Adapter for computers
- with an IBM PC/XT bus.
-
- Each file (program) has its own Version or Rev level which usually is displayed
- on the opening (initial) screen when it begins executing. We have used the
- DOS file directory "TIME" field to record the file Version (Rev) level for easy
- record keeping. If you run the DOS DIR command, the righthand most field, which
- usually contains the TIME of the file creation, instead contains the Version
- of the file/program. For example, CDROM.SYS shows 1:21a, which means that it
- is Version 1.21.
-
- This diskette contains two new programs (PLAY.EXE and STOP.EXE) that are not
- fully described in the User Manual.
-
- The PLAY program directs the NEC CD ROM player to begin playing the
- first audio track on a musical CD. To invoke the PLAY program, first
- place the desired CD in the player and type "PLAY" (followed by a
- carriage return) at the DOS prompt. Playing will continue through
- the last track on the CD.
-
- Optionally, the PLAY program will direct the NEC CD ROM player to
- begin playing at a desired selection other than the first. To do
- this, type the number of the selection on the command line following
- the "PLAY" command. For example, to begin playing at the third
- selection on a CD, type "PLAY 3" (followed by a carriage return).
-
- On CD's which contain both digital and audio tracks, the PLAY program
- ignores the digital tracks. So, if a CD contains two digital tracks
- followed by three audio tracks, PLAY will begin playing the first
- audio track (actually the third track on the CD).
-
- The STOP program directs the NEC CD ROM player to eject the CD which
- is currently inserted. If the player is in the process of playing a
- musical selection, play will be halted before the CD is ejected. This
- command performs the same function as pressing the "EJECT" button on
- the front of the NEC CD ROM player.
-
- If there is more than one NEC CD ROM player installed on one or more
- NEC SCSI Host Adapters, PLAY and STOP always use the player with the
- lowest numerical SCSI address which is connected to the Host Adapter
- with the lowest card address.
