- 1. INTRODUCTION
-
-
- This supplement is written to the manual to be a comprehensive aid to the
- implementation of AMIDIAG, a powerful Advanced Diagnostics program.
- AMIDIAG provides you with diagnostic tests that give your 286/386 based
- IBM PC/AT, or compatible, system a thorough checkout.
-
- AMIDIAG performs tests on the:
-
- - System Board
- - Memory
- - Hard Disk Drive(s)
- - Floppy diskette drive(s)
- - Keyboard
- - Video adapter board and monitor
- - Printer and communication ports
-
- Features
-
- - Menu Driven
- - Error Logging
- - Graphical Representation of Memory Modules
-
- Hardware and Software Requirements
-
- - IBM PC/AT(286/386), or Compatible
- - 512 KB or more of memory
- - One 5 1/4 Floppy Drive
- - DOS version 3.0 or later
-
-
- 2. BEFORE YOU START
-
-
- It is recommended that you make a back-up of your original disk. Use the
- following procedure to make a bootable working disk:
-
- - Boot system using DOS 3.0 or later
-
- - Use the FORMAT /s command to format a bootable system disk
-
- - Use the COPY *.* command to copy all files from Original Disk to
- the new disk.
-
- Files on Disk: AMIDIAG.EXE - DIAG Program
- AUTOEXEC.BAT - File to automatically start AMIDIAG
- README.DOC - This file
-
- Label the new disk "AMIDIAG WORK DISK - BOOTABLE" and store the Original
- Disk in safe place. By making a bootable working disk, you insure the
- system boots with no Device Drivers or Resident Programs in memory.
-

-
-
-
-
- 3. STARTING THE PROGRAM
-
- NOTE: Once you start AMIDIAG, the system will automatically reboot
- when exiting the program.
-
- - Insert the bootable working disk you prepared into Drive A:
-
- - If you have a Reset Switch, press it, otherwise press the
- <CTRL><ALT><DEL> keys together to reboot system.
-
- - If you are using the bootable working disk the following screen
- will appear, if you are using any other disk type "AMIDIAG" at the
- A>, and wait for the following display:
