- Thank You
-
- Thank you for trying PC-Vault Ver. 4.2 (formerly called PC-Lock) hard disk
- protection system. The files ADMIN.DOC and USER.DOC contain complete
- documentation. All of the information in USER.DOC is also contained in
- ADMIN.DOC. You may simply use the command:
-
- COPY A:ADMIN.DOC PRN
-
- to print a copy of the documentation on your printer. Please read the
- installation instructions before attempting to install PC-Vault. All of the
- figures are located at the end of the manual in this pre-release version. The
- user's manual is not yet available.
-
- This is a DEMONSTRATION version. Passwords you define cannot be longer than
- one character, and that character must be a letter from A through G.
- The alarm and lockout limits cannot be set to values from 1 through 8. Values
- of zero and those greater than 8 are allowed. These are the only restrictions
- so this version is FULLY FUNCTIONAL.
-
-
- DISPLAY BLANKING
-
- If your display does not blank during LunchBreak even though you have selected
- that option, try selecting the "Special Display Blanking" option as well. This
- option allows PC-Vault to blank certain non-standard CGA and VGA displays.
-
- Because MS-Windows does not follow the rules for using the VGA display, you may
- need to select the "Special Display Blanking" option for your screen to unblank
- properly following LunchBreak. This applies when you are in Windows and are
- using a VGA display adapter.
-
-
- USING A MOUSE
-
- PC-Vault now allows you disable your mouse during LunchBreak. To access this
- feature, select "Set Limits" from the administrator's main menu. The last item
- in the limits menu will allow you to disable/enable your mouse during LunchBreak.
- Detailed instructions will be displayed if you select the MOUSE menu item.
-
-
- ALTERNATE KEYBOARD/CLOCK HANDLING
-
- This new feature, accessed from the "Set PC-Vault Limits" menu, should almost
- never be needed. On rare occasions, there are conflicts between the LunchBreak
- feature and other software. This feature should resolve almost every conflict.
- We are currently deciding the best way to document this feature so that it will
- be easy to use. In the meantime, if you should have a problem with the
- LunchBreak feature, please call for technical support. We may suggest using
- this feature to alleviate the problem.
-
