- The IAU program adjusts your hard disk interleave. The big difference between
- this one and ALL of the others around is that this one does not require you to
- reformat your hard disk when you make the change. The method to accomplish
- this is as follows:
- Read a single track
- Format that track with the new interleave
- Write the data back to that track
- Continue for the entire disk
-
- If there is a problem reading the track, it is skipped. In any case, the data
- will never (shouldn't ever, anyway) be ruined. The program works on hard disk
- drives on IBMs and compatibles. The latest version supports the new high-
- capacity RLL format drives.
-
- To use the program, you should copy all .DOC files to your current subdirectory
- (or to one which is referred in to the PATH= variable). Also copy the IAU.EXE
- program to the same place.
-
- When you run IAU.EXE, you can optionally specify an interleave value on the
- command line, i.e.,
-
- IAU 3
-
- The default is 5, and was set for that value for use with streaming tape
- drives.

- Comments, etc., should be sent to:

- My own computer system is usually set up for login to unix (224-7081). If you
- would like to leave me a message that way, login as "hello", and follow
- instructions.
-
- If you send a $10 donation, it would help me to pay for a return phone call (if
- you have problems or questions). If you send me a request, I'll get the most
- recent version program to you, with 'C' source code included. Specify 360 K or
- 1.2 M floppy format. A stamped mailer and blank floppy would be appreciated.
-
- Read the file called CHANGES.TXT if you are interested in the list of bug fixes
- which have taken place during the development of the program.
