-
- THIS PROGRAM IS WRITTEN FOR THE IBM PC, XT, OR AT COMPUTERS (OR
- EQUIVALENT) WITH AT LEAST ONE SERIAL PORT. This program was written for color
- systems but should operate properly in monochrome, it just won't look as good.
-
- This program is SHAREWARE and as such is owned by Power Mountain
- Systems. If you use the program you are required to register it. Registration
- is only $25.00. If we have upgraded the program you'll receive the latest
- version upon registration.
- If you have purchased the PMX-200 (or an equivalent product) from Power
- Mountain Systems then you are already registered, and have the latest version.
- If you see a newer version and have already registered with us you have our
- permission to use the newer Shareware version without registering again.
-
- The PMX-200 is a device to interface between your computer and your
- short wave receiver. It allows you to decode very weak CW & RTTY signals. You
- can read more about this project in the April/May 1990 issues of Radio-
- Electronics. Current pricing and more up to date information is available if
- you write to us at the above address.
-
- This program may work well on other CW systems but we obviously cannot
- know how your equipments' RS-232 port may be wired. We also cannot guarantee
- that the interface you're using is adequate. Noise immunity is critical for
- good CW performance, and software can do little to compensate for hardware
- deficiencies.
-
- CW output to the interface from the computer is sent via pin #20 (on a
- DB25 connector). CW data from the interface to the computer is sent via pin #8.
- Pin 1 & 7 is wired to ground. Voltage levels are RS-232 standard.
-
-
- OPERATION
- =========
-
- The first time you run this program you'll need to run the speed test
- option in the first menu. After that you can just go right into the program
- (option 'A') and get started.
- After the delay is calculated a delay number is stored as Suprmors.cfg.
-
- The program starts at 25 words per minute and in transmit mode. When a
- key is hit a window will pop up and ask you what port you're using. After that
- you're ready to transmit or receive CW.
-
-
- Keyboard commands are as follows:
- ----------------------------------------------------------------
-
- [ = go to receive mode from transmit
-
- ] = set new speed in wpm
-
- { = set new Com port ( 1 - 4 )
-
- } = end session and go to DOS
-
- + = increment speed by 1 WPM
-
- - = decrement speed by 1 WPM
-
- / = allows you to select a user message to send
-
-
- For large changes in speed you can use ']' and for small changes use
- '+' and '-'. After changing speed you'll be back in receive mode automatically.
-
- To start transmission all you do is start typing. You'll see that your
- cursor moves to the transmit window. You'll hear a beep when your keyboard
- buffer is full. With a little practice you'll get used to how far you can get
- ahead.
- As each letter is sent it is displayed on the screen.
-
- There are 7 user messages that you can set up and select from. "CQ.MSG"
- is a text file you can create with a text editor or by using DOS's 'copy con'
- command. "CQDX.MSG" is created the same way and it's use is obvious to a HAM.
- "EQUIPMNT.MSG" can be a list of your equipment that you may want to tell others
- about. "QTH.MSG" is a little about where you are, etc. "MESSAGE1.MSG", and
- "MESSAGE2.MSG" are messsages that you can set up for your own needs.
-
- Good Luck, and have fun! Please pass this program and this
- documentation around in unaltered condition.

- UPGRADE HISTORY
- ---------------
-
- Version 1.05
- ============
- Bug fix! Transmit routine was operating at a higher speed than the
- receive routines center of operation. Receive was speeded up and now the
- program works very well.
- When changing to receive a character was being sent inadvertantly.
- This has been remedied.
-
- Version 1.04
- ============
- This version puts you back into receive mode automatically after a
- speed change.
-
- Version 1.03
- ============
- This version includes a much improved cw decode algorithm, and it
- decodes much better.
-
- Version 1.02
- ============
- This version allows you to send a prewritten user message by typing
- '/' on the keyboard and selecting the desired message from the pop up menu.
-
- Version 1.01
- ============
- This version raises the speed limit from 31 wpm to 52 wpm. Windows were
- altered some to increase speed of operation. Windows now have a border and are
- labeled.
