- SCHEMA III : A GENERATION AHEAD.
-
- Guaranteed the most power of any PC based Schematic Capture Software.
-
- Use this document as a brief guide to the SCHEMA III demo disk.
-
- HOW TO PRINT THIS DOCUMENT
-
- If you wish to print this document exit to DOS and enter:
-
- COPY DEMO.DOC PRN <Enter>
-
- where <Enter> is a single keypress of the Enter or Return key.
-
- HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
-
- The demo disk contains several programs, use the <Arrow> keys to
- indicate your choice from the demo menu and press <Enter>.
-
- Demo disk programs require an IBM PC/XT/AT or compatible computer
- with at least 512K RAM, DOS 2.0 or above, and a graphics adapter,
- listed in the graphics adapter selection screen.
-
- The following pages explain the demo disk programs and each demo
- menu choice.
-
- DEMO MENU CHOICE #2 - SELF-RUNNING DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM
-
- Runs a self-running demo of the SCHEMA III Drawing Editor program,
- SCHDRAW. The program runs automatically, demonstrating many of the
- advanced features and capabilities of the Schematic Editor. The demo
- program can be paused at any time by pressing any keyboard key,
- it continues by again pressing any key. Before the demo begins you
- are asked to select a speed option: No Delay, PC XT, PC AT,
- PC 386, and Max Delay. Your selection is chosen will determine the
- number of wait states inserted. Speed option No Delay removes all
- wait-states and executes the demo at full processor speed.
-
- DEMO MENU CHOICE #3 - INTERACTIVE DRAWING EDITOR
-
- The interactive version of the SCHEMA III Drawing Editor program,
- SCHDRAW, allows you to operate the software. The on-line HELP of
- the Schematic Editor will assist you in understanding the commands.
-
- With the Schematic Editor, you may use your keyboard or a mouse.
- If you want to use a mouse, you will first need to install the
- mouse driver program which came with your mouse. Be sure to
- install the mouse driver program before running the interactive
- Schematic Editor program.
-
- The SCHDRAW Drawing Editor version on this disk is identical to the
- actual SCHEMA III version, except disk-write or print operations
- are disabled. SCHEMA III supports all HP and Houston Instrument
- plotters in addition to a variety of printers including:
- all Epson graphics printers (including the LQ series), Toshiba,
- Star Micronyx, Okidata 192/193, and the Apple Imagewriter series.
- The HP LaserJet+, DeskJet, and Canon LBP-8 A2 laser printers
- are also supported. Desktop publishing features include PostScript
- and TIFF ( Tagged Image File Format ). AutoCAD's DXF format has
- been added to the list of supported graphical design tools.
-
-
- DEMO MENU CHOICE #4 - SAMPLE POST-PROCESSOR OUTPUT
-
- Displays the demo post processing files for SCHEMA III's program,
- SCHPOST, on a two-page hierarchical sample schematic (DEMO.P01 and
- DEMO.P02 ), included on this disk. The SCHPOST program uses a
- schematic as input and automatically outputs a set of design
- documentation.
-
- SCHPOST is the most advanced program of its kind in PC-based
- schematic capture. SCHPOST generates 8 outputs: design rule and
- routing error checks, wire/net/pin lists, 2 usage reports, and a
- Bill of Materials - all extracted from the sample schematic. Dbase,
- Lotus, SDF, and Delimited output are also available for the Bill of
- Materials.
-
- NOTE: SCHPOST outputs have been generated for the demo schematic.
- They are text files and may be printed from this disk. The net
- and wire list outputs are disk files called DEMO.NET and DEMO.WRL,
- respectively. The default Bill of Materials output is 120 columns
- wide; the appropriate printer mode or wide paper is required.
- However, this sample file DEMO.BOM was created so that it can
- be read on the screen.
-
- DEMO MENU CHOICE #5 - LIST CONVERSION PROGRAMS
-
- Net list conversion programs are included (at no extra charge) with
- the actual SCHEMA III package to convert SCHEMA III Net List and Pin
- List outputs to formats required by many popular logic simulation,
- wire wrap, and PCB layout systems. These include systems from
- Cadnetix, Calay, Computervision, dataCon, FutureNet, Intergraph,
- P-CAD, Racal-Redac, SCICARDS, PSpice, Tango PCB, Telesis, and others.
- Contact OMATION for the current list of net/pin list programs. The
- text file for these programs is CONV.DOC and may be printed.
-
- DEMO MENU CHOICE #6 - ORDERING INFORMATION
-
- This menu selection explains how to order your SCHEMA III.
-
-
- DEMO MENU CHOICE #7 - SELECT GRAPHICS ADAPTER
-
- Specify the graphics adapter type to be used by the SCHEMA III.
-
- DEMO MENU CHOICE #8 - QUIT
-
- Used to quit the SCHEMA III demo and return to DOS.
-
- OTHER SCHEMA III PROGRAMS
-
- Other SCHEMA III programs included in the purchased version, but not
- provided on this disk are SCHBACK, SCHPRINT, SCHPLOT, SCHLIB, SCHCFG,
- and two other utility programs. These programs provide PCB layout
- back annotation, batch printing and plotting, object library manage-
- ment, and configuration file management functions.
