  3.             WHAT'S NEW IN CON>FORMAT 1.06

  5.     It's been really great to get all kinds of suggestions for ways
  6.     to improve the usability of Con>Format.
  7.  
  8.     We added a few new features to Con>Format 1.06:
  9.  
  10.         1.    Up to 8 diskette drives are supported on up to 8
  11.         different adapters.  Instead of remainng fixed at
  12.         37x, I/O port base addresses can now be specified
  13.         for each drive in the configuration table.
  14.  
  15.         2.    The seek speed is now adjustable for each drive.
  16.         Normally, you can leave this set at 6 msec (the
  17.         usual default).     However, if your drive is noisy
  18.         at this rate, you can use a lower seek time.
  19.  
  20.         3.    When a diskette is accessed while Con>Format is
  21.         formatting, a running display of the format progress
  22.         is presented.

  24.         4.    If, in the case of a "stalled" diskette access,
  25.         the ESCape key is pressed, a "Drive Not Ready" status
  26.         will be returned to the system for the "stalled"
  27.         access.     Note that it usually takes 4 or 5 successive
  28.         ESC key depressions to actually display the DOS
  29.         message "Drive not ready" because DOS retries every
  30.         failing disk operation several times before reporting
  31.         errors.

  33.         5.    The one-line short "Con>Format installed..." message
  34.         is now written to standard output, so it may be re-
  35.         directed to a file, if desired.

  37.         6.    Some of the timings have been lengthened a bit, so those
  38.         of you with 33MHz 80386 systems should have no problems.
