- 800 II is a great little program give it a try. I have used quite a
- few Double Density disks formated to 720Kb on an AT, in a 1.2 Mb
- drive, and using 800 II with no problem as yet. I have also used
- 800 II on an XT using the 800 II install command "800 /36 /36" to
- use and format flopies to 400 Kb. The Xt required the /36 /36
- commandline in order to recognize it's two 360 Kb drives. The AT
- had no problem recognizing the drives and the / parameters were not
- required for it. I seem to be locked out of some of the format
- selections by the systems I am using, but in a 1.2 Mb drive I am
- able to format DD Disks to all the formats listed up to 800Kb. I
- haven't been able to take HD disks to 1600Kb though.
-
- The command "800 /?" will list 800 II documentation to the screen.
- But if you prefer menu driven programs then you can use Call800.EXE
- with 800 II. It provides a menu system for the more common 800 II
- Format Parameters. To use Call800, place the command "800" in your
- autoexec.bat file. Place a copy of 800.COM and Call800.EXE in a
- directory that is in the DOS path. Format.COM must also be in the
- DOS Path. Call800.EXE can be renamed to eliminate keystrokes (F.EXE
- for example). After 800 has been run and installed by the
- Autoexec.bat file you can run Call800 for a menu of format
- selections.
-
- Both 800 II and Call800 are in the public domain.
