- USING WORD PROCESSORS - THAT FEELING OF SYNTAX
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Probably the most interesting and exhilarating software program any
- beginner should try is the word processor. In simplest terms a
- word processor is an electronic typewriter.
-
- A word processor automates many of the tedious chores a typewriter
- cannot do. Many modern word processors can:
-
- ==correct, add, replace and delete words and sentences quickly before
- a paper copy is made.
-
- ==locate spelling errors and suggest alternate spellings.
-
- ==move and relocate whole paragraphs or single words to another part
- of the document.
-
- ==copy text to produce multiple (similar) entries throughout a document.
-
- ==merge several documents together and then rearrange their order.
-
- ==format the edges and boundries of a document - make borders narrow
- or wide with only a few keystrokes of instructions.
-
- ==retain file copies in compact electronic disc form rather than paper.
