-
-
- This Document has to parts ! Part A is an example of the Hierachy of TAPE
- transfers to be used by K.I.F.T.O. Part B is an example of how HUBs will
- receive compensation for their efforts.
-
-
- PART A:
-
- The following is an example of how the hierarchy of Tape transfers will be
- accomplished. The actual methods used will natural be dictated by number
- of Members and other pertinent data. This may seem a little complicated,
- REMEMBER all Members and HUBs will be told in advance were to send their
- tapes. This example is just for Member Educational Purposes.
-
-
- Cycles are thought to be WEEKLY ! but maybe changed as required !
-
- M# = Member Number
- H# = HUB Number
- RH # = Regional HUB Number

- World Hub
-
-
- In actual practice, Regional HUBs will send their tapes to each other in
- a pre-determined ROUND ROBIN Fashion. The European and Similiar HUBS will
- alternate sending their tapes to different Regional HUBS.
-
-
- Consider :
-
-
- M1-16 <-> H1 <-> RH1 <- European HUB
- |
- |
- Other Regional HUBs <-> World HUB -> European HUB
-
- In the above example Members 1 to 16 send their tapes to HUB 1 which complies
- them into a common listing and returns that to each member. Additionally, this
- HUB forwards this Tape to its Regional HUB. This Regional HUB recieves its
- Tapes from each of its HUBs and is the RHUB for this cycle to receive the
- TAPE from the European HUB. The Regional HUB compiles it Listings and forwards
- the Compiled Tape to each of its HUBs and the World HUB. NOTE : The RHUB does
- NOT forward a TAPE to the EUROPEAN HUB ! The EUROPEAN HUB will forward a FILE
- LIST only of the files on the TAPE that it sent to the RHUB. The WORLD HUB
- will use this listing to ensure it doesnot send the EUROPEAN HUB duplicates
- of Files it already has.
-
- On the next cycle, the RH1 is replaced with RH2 to receive the EUROPEAN HUBs
- tape.
-
- Members will ALWAYS send their tapes to the SAME HUBs.
-
- HUBS will be given a listing of which REGIONAL HUB they are to send their
- TAPES to. REGIONAL HUBS and the EUROPEAN HUB will send their TAPES on a
- random but preset basis to each other and/or the WORLD HUB.
-
-
- Consider :
-
- H1 H2 H3 H4 H5-16

- |
- RH1 <- WORLD HUB -> EUROPEAN HUB
-
-
- Here Regional HUB 1 sends its TAPE to Regional HUB 2. Regional HUB 2 also gets
- the EUROPEEN HUB tape on this cycle. Regional HUB 2 sends TAPES to its
- Members, Regional HUB 1, and the WORLD HUB. The EUROPEAN HUB forwards a list-
- ing of the files it sent to Regional HUB 2 to the WORLD HUB. The Worls HUB
- uses this listing to ensure it doesnot send Duplicates to the EUROPEAN HUB.
- The purpose of this varied method is to ensure a FAIR and RANDOM method of
- TAPE transfers across the organization. (World HUB sends TAPE to RH1 also)
-
- If this sounds a little complex, DO NOT WORRY ! All HUBS, REGIONAL HUBS, any
- any other HUBs, will know in advance and EXACTLY who gets their TAPES on any
- particular CYCLE !
-
- The WORLD HUB will always Update Each Regional HUB on every Cycle ! Even though
- a particula Regional HUB did not send a tape to the World HUB, but to another
- Regional HUB on a given cycle.
-
- For the first few CYCLES, the actual paths will NOT vary. This is to ensure
- that all is set-up and running smoothly on ALL levels !
-
- HUBs at alllevels need to keep in mind that the software that K.I.F.T.O.
- license them to use will do the actual file comparisons and file manipulations
- AUTOMATICALLY ! The only WORK that is required of a HUB is to RECEIVE the
- TAPES, START the Process, COPY the TAPES and MAIL them back out !
-
- Consider :
-
- A REGIONAL HUB receives 17 TAPES on a cycle. 16 from HUBs, and the EUROPEAN
- HUB. He copies the LISTING into a Directory, The software compiles these
- listings into a common LISTING while removing Duplicates ! If the REGIONAL
- HUB in question has the DISK SPACE, it merely copies each of the TAPES it
- recieved into different directories. The Software then uses the Compiled
- Listing to copy all FILES into a common Directory and then the Regional HUB
- backs this up on a TAPE. Either it does the BACKup 18 times or if it has more
- than one TAPE DRIVE it Copies the tape 17 times. 16 of the tapes are sent, one
- each to its HUBs, the 17 th Tape is sent to the World HUB, and the 18 th TAPE
- is maintained by the Regional HUB as abackup available to any one in the
- Network. The WORLD HUB provides the EUROPEAN HUB, as well as any similiar
- Distant HUBS with tapes.
-
- In the above example, if the Regional HUB DOES NOT have enough Disk Space
- to simultaneously copy all TAPES into it HD's. It can copy as many TAPES as
- it can and repeat he process until all FILES are compiled into one common
- directory.
-
- Remember the SOFTWARE is AUTOMATIC !
-
-
- PART B:
-
- HUBs and above will receive compensation for their efforts. The MAIN reasons
- behind this compensation is to help pay for the CPU Time, Hard Drive wear
- and tear, system maintanence, and as compersation for doing the work. A HUB
- will not get rich but it will help remove the Financial burden that is placed
- on a HUB. Remember Hubs have to maintain spare CPU Time and HARD DRIVE space
- inorder to be able to properly function as a HUB.
-
- It should be obvious to ALL, that very few folks would volunteer as a HUB if
- they were not compensated for the 100 Meg or so they might need to keep free
- inorder to function. Not to meantion their time and system wear and tear !
-
- It is believed that a HUB will need to have 100 Meg Free at all times.
- A regional HUB might need twice that amount. Of course using 60 Meg tapes,
- a HUB could function by backing up its existing DIRS on TAPE, deleteing them,
- performing its work, and then restoring them. A little tedious but could be
- done.
-
- HUBs and ABOVE HUB level will receive compensation from several sources.
-
- Each cycle, a HUB will recive a little more money than is needed to mail
- out its compiled listings. This money is sent by the Members with their tapes
- and/or by the HUBs under them in the case of a Regional HUB or ABOVE. When I
- used the term SMALL AMOUNT, that is exactly what I meant, probably a few bucks.
-
- The K.I.F.T.O. upon the receipt of a Regional HUBS reports and TAPES will
- send out funds equalling the amount of money designated to HUB level
- Units divided by 16. i.e. If the amount of Money designated to a HUB is
- $800.00 for a year. Divide this by 16 and a figure of $50.00 is computed.
- AFTER the completion of a CYCLE, K.I.F.T.O. will mail the HUB a check for
- $50.00. If the HUB fails for ANY REASON to properly complete its cycle, then
- that cycles money is maintained by K.I.F.T.O. and used to compensate any
- other HUB that completed that cycle for them. The remaining 4/16 or $200.00
- in this example is maintained by K.I.F.T.O. and at each years end the Board
- of Directors will detemine how many cycles a HUB completed successfully. If
- all cycles were complete, then the entire $200.00 will be forwarded to that
- HUB. IF a HUB completed CYCLES for other HUBs, then the money for that cycle
- will be sent by K.I.F.T.O as each cycle is completed AND that HUB will receive
- the BONUS money for that cycle at years end.
-
- UNDERSTAND THIS ! HUBs that DO NOT Successfully complete a CYCLE for ANY
- REASON will receive NO COMPENSATION from K.I.F.T.O. for that
- cycle. This means NO REASON is acceptable. Understandable
- YES, but ACCEPTABLE NO !!!
-
- If your house is blown away by a storm, understandable
- as a reason for not completing a cycle, but you will not
- receive compensation for that cycle !
-
- Your Hard Drive is Fried ? Understandable reason for not
- completing a cycle, but you will receive no compensation
- for that cycle.
-
- You went ona Vacation. Also a understandable reason for
- not completing a cycle, but you will receive NO Compensation
- for it.
-
- HUBs and above will be asked to inform K.I.F.T.O. if a
- scheduled interruption of their ability to perform is
- planned in advance.
-
- This will ensure that members are supported by other HUBs
- during this scheduled absence. Any HUB that completes another
- HUB's Cycle will receive the compensation for that Cycle and
- the appropriate percentage of the Year End Bonus !
-
-
- Got lazy and did not do it. NOT ACCEPTABLE , no compensation
- will be sent, and your status as a HUB will be reviewed by
- the K.I.F.T.O. board and you might be lowered to a Member
- Level.
