  4. {COMMO} (tm) is a Telecommunications Program that offers great power, speed
  5. and flexibility in a small, easy-to-use package.

  7. {COMMO} is Shareware.  Please see the Licensing Notice in the COMMO.DOC file
  8. and also the Registration Form provided in this package.  Registration allows
  9. you to eliminate the opening advertisement and to personalize your copy of
  10. the program.

  12. A registration fee of $25.00 US is required for continued use.  Add $5.00
  13. handling charge for a diskette containing the current release (specify 5.25"

  42. New users please read the file COMMO.DOC.  {COMMO} is a little different from
  43. other terminal programs and the time will be well spent.  Pay special
  44. attention to Appendix A, "Setting Up Your Modem."

  54. Bugs Fixed

  57. Pressing Esc to exit a window would cause a macro to terminate (if one was
  58. running).
  59.  
  60. There was a problem with timers expiring early at the stroke of midnight,
  61. This caused the "Holding until ..." message to go away, the PAUSe function to
  62. terminate early, etc.

  64. The DISPlay function would write some unwanted characters when used only to
  65. position the cursor.

  67. Major Changes

  70. {COMMO} now has Scrollback!  Just press Alt-K from the Terminal Screen.

  72. The Capture File feature now offers two new modes:  Filter and Raw.  Use these
  73. when you need to capture data as it comes from the serial port.

  75. Chat Mode and Doorway Mode have been enhanced (see below).

  84. The Configuration File has a new (and very fast) processor.  The file is
  85. processed at startup and then released from memory. Pressing Alt-G reads it in
  86. for editing and re-processing.  It will stay in memory until the space is
  87. needed for something else (like Shell to DOS).  This frees up almost 5k for
  88. other purposes (the file is saved automatically whenever necessary).  The
  89. editing command, Alt-Q, no longer applies to the Config File since it is
  90. inconsistent with these changes.

  92. A number of new items have been added.  Please take a few minutes to edit the
  93. new sample file to your own needs.  The simplest way is to print your old
  94. file, then edit the new file using the printout as a guide.  You will NOT be
  95. able to start {COMMO} using your old Configuration File.

  99. Item 34.  Startup pacing character.  This allows you to specify an initial
  100. ASCII Upload pacing character without having to use a macro.
  101.  
  102. Item 39.  Startup Capture File Mode.  SCREEN captures data as it appears on
  103. the screen.  RAW captures data as it comes from the serial port -- with ANSI
  104. control characters, etc.  FILTER is like raw, but filters out ANSI control
  105. sequences -- useful for data with lines longer than 80 characters.

  107. Item 46.  Scrollback Buffer size in kilobytes.  This allocates memory for the
  108. Scrollback buffer.  0 will disable the feature.
  109.  
  110. Item 50.  Obtain number of screen lines from DOS.  If this is "yes" {COMMO}
  111. will automatically adjust to the number of screen lines currently set in DOS.
  112. You no longer need to use the "/L=" command line switch.
  113.  
  114. Item 51.  Number of lines in upper Chat Mode window.  This allows customizing
  115. the Chat Mode split.
  116.  
  117. Item 52.  Send when Enter is pressed in Chat Mode.  Set this to "yes" to use a
  118. "CB Simulator" or other host that echoes what you type.

  126.   CAPMode.      Allows the Capture File Mode to be set via macro.

  128.   SCROllback.   Displays the Scrollback buffer.

  130. A new EXECute parameter "%m" has been added.  This variable contains the speed
  131. from the modem connect message and may be used to pass the modem connect speed
  132. to external protocols for time estimation.

  138. A color chart is now available in the Internal Editor.  Use it to set the
  139. colors in the Configuration File or for the DISPlay function in the Macro
  140. File.  Just press F10 at any time to pop it up.

  142. The screen is no longer cleared when Doorway Mode is entered.  Also the
  143. terminal mode parameters are not reset.  If needed, these can be done with a
  144. macro.  See "Doorway Mode" in COMMO.DOC for details.
