  7. EXEMENU will display a menu with all the programs in a directory. You
  8. select one with the cursor or character keys, and press Enter.....the
  9. program is started. When you quit the program, you automatically return
  10. to the EXEMENU.

  12. EXEMENU is designed to be used by the non-tech user. Power users have
  13. Norton-Commander, PC-tools, and many more. But I have frequently found
  14. those packages to be too complicated for the majority of the PC users!
  15. Therefore EXEMENU has:
  16.  
  17.    - No documentation (well, almost). Run and use!
  18.    - No settings.
  19.    - No function keys.
  20.    - No mouse.
  21.    - No pull-down or pop-up menu's.
  22.    - Easy screen layout.
  23.    - Zero installation: it will run anywhere.

  25. EXEMENU recognises EXE, COM, BAT and BAS programs. You only see programs
  26. that can be started (lowercase), and subdirectories (uppercase). Nothing
  27. else. BAS programs (Basic) will only be visible and can only be started
  28. if the basic interpreter is found in the path when EXEMENU is started:
  29. GWBASIC.EXE, GWBASIC.COM, BASIC.EXE, BASIC.COM, BASICA.EXE, or
  30. BASICA.COM.

  32. You can optionally specify a path with EXEMENU:

  34.         EXEMENU [path]
  35.  
  36. This will cause EXEMENU to startup with that path. If you don't specify
  37. a path, then EXEMENU will startup with the current directory.

  39. If you switch floppies (new floppy in the drive) while EXEMENU is
  40. active, then press "ENTER" anywhere and the new floppy will be loaded.

  46. Remarks:

  48. Don't worry if you don't see COMMAND.COM, AUTOEXEC.BAT or EXEMENU.EXE,
  49. they will never be shown.

  51. EXEMENU has been tested on simple XT computers up to 386 systems, with
  52. DOS versions 3.2, 3.3, and 4.0, with Hercules, CGA, EGA and VGA.

  54. EXEMENU should work well with just about any video hardware. There is
  55. one exception: if the screen is set to a different width than 80
  56. characters, then you MAY get a warped screen. Some video modes will
  57. cause EXEMENU to reset the screen to 80x25 characters. You may see some
  58. "snow" on the screen, especially with older video hardware.

  64. This is freeware. No guarantees whatsoever. You may change it, use it,
  65. copy it, anything you like.

  69. written this program in Borland's Turbo-Pascal v5.5, but it should also
  70. compile with v4.0 and v5.0. The source is included for the hackers, and
  71. for virus protection.
