- July 1, 1989-- MINI TEXT EDITOR NOW AVAILABLE
- ******************************************************************************
- EAST MEADOW, NY-- Andrew M. Saucci, Jr. has released Centiwrite 1.10.
- Centiwrite, available for microcomputers running the MS-DOS or PC-DOS operating
- systems, is a single-screen text editor suitable for creating the short memos,
- notes, and batch files which form the core of everyday work. Its simplicity
- makes it immediately useful even to novices, and expert users will feel at home
- with it right away. Small enough to fit on a single floppy disk of any size,
- Centiwrite eliminates the need to carry and load a full-size word processor for
- small jobs. An added benefit is that the cursor does not blink, and can be
- customized to suit the user. The only requirements are 128K of memory and
- DOS 2.0 or higher.
-
- LIST OF FEATURES:
-
- * Customization program included for screen colors and other settings
- * No-blink cursor can appear in any color, inverse video, or boldface
- * Small size, approximately 36K
- * Undo key (F3) reverses the most recent keystroke
- * Accepts almost any ASCII character, including ASCII zero
- (but not 7, 8, 10, & 13)
- * Esc and Ctrl-key combinations appear normally on screen
- * Displays ASCII value for any selected character
- * Horizontal and vertical key repeat functions duplicate a character
- * Quick reference screen with list of commands
- * Support for EGA 43-line and VGA 50-line modes
- * Warning is displayed before discarding a file
- * Preset tabs make indentation and column creation a breeze
- * Insert or Overstrike modes available, default can be customized
-
- Also available is the Centiwrite Developer's Kit, which includes
- the Turbo Pascal units which comprise the editor itself. The Developer's Kit
- allows the inclusion of an "instant editor" in Turbo Pascal programs which
- generate the same type of small files mentioned earlier. The editor in the Kit
- can be placed within a window, and its colors and other settings (including the
- cursor color or blinking) can be set by the programmer. The editor can also be
- overlaid if desired. Additional support routines can be used independently of
- the editor.
-
- Both programs were written by Andrew M. Saucci, Jr., who was
- graduated with distinction with a master's degree in computer science from
- the New York Institute of Technology. He also holds a bachelor's degree in
- the same field from Hofstra University. According to Mr. Saucci, "People should
- not have to use an anvil to do the job of a paperweight. Centiwrite is just
- right for the kinds of jobs it's designed to do. Besides, anvils will throw
- your back out! For what?"
-
-
- Centiwrite 1.10 is available for $20. The Centiwrite Developer's Kit
- is available at $32.50 for Turbo Pascal 4.0, 5.0, and 5.5 (please specify when
- ordering). The programs are available on either 360K 5.25" or 720K 3.5"
- diskettes. Either program may be purchased directly from the author by making
- a check for the above amounts (NY State residents MUST add their local sales
- tax) payable to
