- AdvCRT -- AN ADVANCED CRT UNIT
-
-
- AdvCRT (Advanced CRT) is a collection of extremely speedy and
- powerful Screen and Keyboard manipulation routines for use with the
- IBM PC/XT/AT/PS2 family of microcomputers in conjunction with (and
- presently limited to) Borland International's Turbo Pascal Version 5.5.
-
- This UNIT takes full advantage of Turbo Pascal's speed and
- compact code size to make the programming of screen-oriented
- applications smooth, quick, and productive. The routines included
- in this package are those every programmer has wished to have at
- disposal, yet never had the time nor the expertise to develop.
- Now all programmers regardless of skill can have powerful routines
- such as these for their everyday use.
-
- Common Questions and Answers concerning AdvCRT UNIT:
-
- Q: "What type or routines are included in this package?"
-
- A: A wide variety of Screen (Mono/CGA/EGA/EGA+/VGA), Keyboard,
- and Timer manipulation routines are included, along with a
- few other miscellaneous (yet relating) routines. Some of
- these include:
-
- - Full access to all Video Display pages (text and graphic)
- - Full access to Video Display memory
- - Page-sensitive cursor control
- - Scrolling of any region on the screen
- - Determining the type of Display Adaptor installed
- - Determining and setting the status of the "Grey Keys"
- on the keyboard (CAPS, NUM LOCK, LSHIFT, RSHIFT, ALT, etc.)
- - Saving and Restoring multiple text screens to/from memory
- - Much, much more!
-
- Q: "Can I see a demonstration any of these procedures?"
-
- A: Various demos accompany the distribution packet. However, with
- the release of AdvCRT Version 9.0 (first version to implement
- the user-supported software theory), demos are virtually obsolete.
- This is due simply to the nature of user-supported software:
- What you demo is in fact the actual software for which you will
- be paying.
-
-
- Q: "If these routines were to change, how would I upgrade? How do
- I obtain future versions?"
-
- A: Registered users receive a full year of free upgrades. Upgrades
- may be obtained by simply re-downloading the new version from
- any distribution BBS, or mailed at your request directly from the
- author(s) at NO CHARGE to you. After the first year of registrat-
- ion has expired, new versions of the software are available
- directly from the author(s) for a $5 diskette/mailer/postage
- charge.
-
-
- Q: "I am quite an experienced programmer, will these routines
- really be of help?"
-
- A: AdvCRT is the product of many months of research and
- excruciating programming by a group of well-experienced
- developers and Computer Engineers at Virginia Polytechnic
- and State University. It implements only the finest in terms
- of SPEED and POWER. It was once said that all good programmers
- are "pack-rats"--AdvCRT is certainly a valuable asset to any
- programmer's library.
-
-
- Q: "I have just started programming in Turbo Pascal. Can these
- routines help ME?"
-
- A: Yes. As your programming expertise grows, AdvCRT will grow
- with you and be there whenever needed. You may find no need
- for some of the routines at present, but as your knowledge
- and curiousity grows, you will have the ability to refer to
- this outstanding UNIT at any time.
-
-
- Q: "It looks like I'm going to enjoy AdvCRT. I understand it is
- unlawful for me to use this UNIT in any way for more than
- the two month trial-period without registering my copy
- and mailing the required contribution. How do I go about
- registering?"
-
- A: (1) Print the Registration file (REGISTER.TXT), and complete
- the questionnaire.
- (2) Print the License Agreement file (LICENSE.TXT), read
- it in full, and sign your name on the space provided.
- (3) Send the hardcopy Registration, License Agreement,
- and a check or money order for the correct amount to:
