  26.     This file, README., contains the Tech-Edit license agreement
  27.     and gives you information on registering Tech-Edit.

  29.     The file is 4 pages long.  The last page is a registration form
  30.     which you can fill out and mail in to register Tech-Edit.

  33.     Registration Information
  34.  
  35.          Tech-Edit is a copyrighted program protected by both U.S. and
  36.          international copyright law.  You are authorized to use it
  37.          without charge for a limited period of time under the terms
  38.          of the Tech-Edit license agreement.  After this time, you must
  39.          register and pay for Tech-Edit if you wish to continue using it.

  41.          This method of distribution is known as shareware.  It
  42.          allows you to determine whether Tech-Edit meets your needs
  43.          before you pay for it.

  45.            Upon registration you will recieve:

  47.            o  A disk with the latest version of Tech-Edit, registered
  48.               to you.
  49.  
  50.            o  A version of Tech-Edit for DOS
  51.  
  52.            o  A version of Tech-Edit for OS2
  53.  
  54.            o  One copy of the printed Tech-Edit manual.

  56.            o  Technical support via regular or electronic mail

  64.       Tech-Edit License Agreement
  65.  
  66.          (1)  The Tech-Edit program and all other programs and
  67.          documentation distributed or shipped with it are
  68.          copyrighted works protected by U.S. and international
  69.          copyright law.  In the rest of this document, this
  70.          collection of programs is referred to simply as "Tech-Edit".
  71.          You are granted a license to use your copy of Tech-Edit only
  72.          under the terms and conditions specified in this license
  73.          agreement.

  75.          (2)  Tech-Edit is a shareware software package.  It is not
  76.          free, and it is not in the public domain.  It is
  77.          distributed as shareware, which means that before you pay
  78.          for the package, you may try it and see if you want to
  79.          continue using it.  You may use Tech-Edit free for a trial
  80.          period of up to 31 days.  If you wish to continue using
  81.          Tech-Edit after that period, you must pay a registration fee.
  82.          If you choose not to pay the registration fee, you must
  83.          stop using Tech-Edit, though you are still free to keep
  84.          copies and pass them along to others.

  86.          (3)  You may use your copy of Tech-Edit on a single computer.
  87.          You may also install it on a computer attached to a
  88.          network, or remove it from one computer and install it on a
  89.          different one, provided there is no possibility that a
  90.          single copy of Tech-Edit will be used on more than one computer
  91.          at a time.  Network, site, and corporate licenses are
  92.          available from Superior Soft.

  94.          (4)  You may copy Tech-Edit for backup purposes, and you may
  95.          give copies of the unregistered version to other
  96.          individuals, which they may also use and copy under the
  97.          terms of this agreement.  If you copy the unregistered
  98.          version of Tech-Edit for others, you must include all of the
  99.          files distributed with it.

  101.          (5)  You may NOT give, sell, or otherwise transfer copies
  102.          of the registered version of Tech-Edit to any other person for
  103.          any reason.  However, you may transfer ownership of your
  104.          registered copy to another person, provided that when you
  105.          do so, you stop using Tech-Edit and remove it from your
  106.          computer, and notify Superior Soft of the new owner.

  108.          (6)  You may NOT distribute Tech-Edit other than through
  109.          individual copies of the shareware archive passed to
  110.          friends and associates for their individual use and
  111.          distribution by electronic means where no profit is
  112.          intended specific to Tech-Edit. Specifically, you may not
  113.          place any part of the REGISTERED Tech-Edit package in
  114.          any user group or commercial library without written
  115.          permission from Superior Soft, and you may not distribute
  116.          for a fee, or in any way sell copies of Tech-Edit or any
  117.          part of the Tech-Edit package.

  119.          (7)  Tech-Edit is a powerful editor.  Although we have attempted
  120.          to build in reasonable safeguards, if you do not use Tech-Edit
  121.          properly you may destroy files or cause other damage to
  122.          your computer software and data.  You assume full

  127.          responsibility for the selection and use of Tech-Edit to achieve
  128.          your intended results; in no event shall Superior Soft be
  129.          responsible for any damages whatsoever due to errors in
  130.          usage or your failure to read, understand, or follow
  131.          instructions in the documentation.  Superior Soft limits
  132.          its warranty to replacement of a defective program diskette
  133.          or manual.

  135.          (8)  Like all useful computer software, Tech-Edit may contain
  136.          errors in programs or documentation.  If you find such an
  137.          error or are otherwise dissatisfied with a registered copy
  138.          of Tech-Edit, you may return the entire package at any time
  139.          up to 30 days after purchase for a full refund of your
  140.          original registration fee; such a refund shall be your sole
  141.          remedy for any program error(s).  Superior Soft shall not
  142.          be liable for any other costs incurred by you due to such
  143.          errors.

  145.          (9)  If you do not agree with these terms and conditions,
  146.          you do not have permission from the copyright holder(s) to
  147.          use Tech-Edit, and you must stop using it and remove it from
  148.          your computer.
  149.  
  150.          (10)  Any use or distribution of Tech-Edit which violates this
  151.          license agreement will be considered a copyright violation,
  152.          and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
  153.  
  154.          (11)  The Tech-Edit source code or binary cannot be used in
  155.          itself as a stand-alone product, nor can the source code be
  156.          sold in any form.
  157.  
  158.          (12)  The Tech-Edit source code may be used only by the
  159.          registered owner.
  160.  
  161.          (13) You may use Tech-Edit in your own product(s) as long
  162.          as a Superior Soft copyright is displayed in the product(s).
  163.          The copyright shall be in the form of a text message: "Technical
  164.          Editor V2.5 Copyright (c) Superior Soft 1988,1989,1990". This
  165.          message should appear at least once during the usage of the
  166.          product(s).
  167.  
  168.          Limited Warranty
  169.  
  170.             Superior Soft warrants that the Tech-Edit diskette and manual
  171.             distributed to registered users are fit for the purpose
  172.             which they are intended.  Superior Soft will replace or
  173.             refund the purchase price of the diskette and/or manual
  174.             and/or any other parts or components of Tech-Edit found to
  175.             be defective or not able to be used for the purpose which
  176.             they are intended. If such defect is the fault of Superior
  177.             Soft and not the result of misuse or abuse; and if the
  178.             defective items are returned to Superior Soft within the
  179.             warranty period of one year.

  181.             Superior Soft makes no other warranties, expressed or
  182.             implied, and Superior Soft's warranty is expressly limited
  183.             to the cost of replacement of any defective diskette or
  184.             other part.
