- The Multi-Edit Demo is now shipped in compressed, self extracting form.
- The program INSTALL.EXE will automatically perform the extractions and
- install Multi-Edit onto your disk for you.
-
- The Multi-Edit Demo may be run from a 360k floppy, but the Hypertext
- Help files will not fit, thus limiting it's usefullness. The DEMO will
- fit on a 720k or larger floppy with no problem.
-
- We would like to acknowledge PKWARE, who provided the utilities
- needed to generate the compressed, self extracting files.
- PKWARE provides the best file compression utilities available,
- and we highly recommend them. For more information, contact
- PKWARE, Inc.
- 7545 N. Port Washington Rd.
- Glendale, WI 53217
- You can also download PKWARE's shareware PKZIP product from the
- American Cybernetics BBS.

-
- DOS VERSIONS < 3.0
- Don't turn the Mouse setting ON unless a mouse driver is loaded!
- If you are not sure whether Multi-Edit has the mouse enabled,
- then bring Multi-Edit up with the /MN switch.
-
- You MUST have a 'ME_PATH=' environment variable set.
- EXAMPLE: SET ME_PATH=C:\ME
-
-
- MOUSE SUPPORT
- As shipped the mouse support is turned off. It can be turned
- on from the INSTALL menu inside Multi-Edit.
-
- KEY REPEAT SPEED
- There is an option to set the key repeat speed from the
- Install-Edit-Settings menu. This option can not work with older
- systems, since it is reliant on BIOS calls that were not in the
- original IBM XT BIOS. If you have any problems with key repeat
- (keys stop repeating) then do the following:
-
- A. Start Multi-Edit with the /KN switch.
- B. Go into the Install menu (<F2>I).
- C. Hit <ESC> and select "Save-settings-and-exit".
- D. Reboot your system and start Multi-Edit.
