  13. WELCOME to VP-Info Level 1!

  15. VP-Info Level 1 is a full featured compiled data base language. It is
  16. fully relational, very fast, and provides a rich command set to perform
  17. complex tasks with very few lines of code.
  18.  
  19. To get going, print the fast start file FASTART.DOC and follow the
  20. instructions.

  22. The full VP-Info Level 1 shareware disk set contains the following:

  26.    READ.ME - this file.

  28.    FASTART.DOC - We recommend that you print out this file and use it as
  29.         a guide to getting started.

  31.    VPI1.EXE and VPI1.MSG -
  32.         The files required to run VP-Info Level 1

  34.    VPI1.HLP -
  35.         The on-line help system.

  37.    VPI1.CNF -
  38.         A configuration file. The supplied file takes first time
  39.         users to a menu that drives a self-running demo as well as
  40.         the SAMPLES program that drives the presentation of the
  41.         collection of sample programs. After the first entry, the
  42.         user is taken directly to the SAMPLES menus. When you feel
  43.         ready, modify the file do do your own initialization, or
  44.         erase the file.

  58.    In addition, there are a large number of files associated with the
  59.    self-running demonstration and the SAMPLES collection of programs.

  61.    You may want to place the files VPI1.EXE, VPI1.MSG, and VPI1.HLP in
  62.    a subdirectory that is on you DOS PATH. You can then run VP-Info from
  63.    anywhere on your computer.

  65. MANUAL DISK
  66.  
  67. The manual is subdivided into four parts for ease of printing.
  68. If your editor and viewing software can deal with the size, you may want
  69. to combine the parts into one large file on your disk.
  70.  
  71. The file uses box characters to achieve a better look. If your printer
  72. cannot print box characters, a fresh copy using printable characters
  73. may be generated using the program PRTMANL.PRG included on the manual
  74. disk. This VP-Info Level 1 program is an interesting example to add to
  75. the collection. Reading the fast start document will give you sufficient
  76. information to run VP-Info Level 1 programs.

  78. The manual disk also contains:

  80. CHARITY.ZIP - a self-contained VP-Info application. This should be
  81.      unzipped into its own subdirectory and reviewed when you feel
  82.     ready to study a full VP-Info application.

  84. VP-Info Level 1 is provided as is by SUB ROSA PUBLISHING INC. No warranty
  85. is offered or implied. It is offered as SHAREWARE on a try before you
  86. buy basis. It is not free.

  92. There are a few small differences:
  93.    The version number is 3.80 instead on 3.30.
  94.    There is no registation solicitation.
  95.    A start-up program can be specified at the command line, avoiding the
  96.     Sub Rosa sign on messages.
