- ────────────────────────┤ A Moderately Useful Utility ├────────────────────────

-
- MEM.COM is a small utility to report the state of the system RAM usage. It
- will report the following system parameters:
-
- » availible free conventional memory
- » amount of memory used in the DOS environment
- » total amount of EMS memory
- » memory used by each EMS process
- » availible EMS memory
-
-
- MEM uses only conventional DOS calls. It will write to the screen using the
- current colors and attributes. MEM allocates 16k for itself, and exits with an
- errorlevel of 1, though neither characteristic is of any great meaning.
-
-
- This program was written as an exercise in assembly language programming.
- It has no other real raison d'être. A future and more useful version should
- include (more or less) the following added functions:
-
- report extended (AT) memory
- report presence of HMA (Microsoft High Memory)
- report presence of XMA (Microsoft Extended Memory)
- report EMS or EEMS version
- report handle names under LIM 4.0+
- report total conventional RAM
- report RAM used on display adapters
-
- Anyway, this version may be used without charge or guilt. Don't send me
- anything.
