- EasyCASE version 1.7
-
- EasyCASE version 1.70 fixes the following bugs and enhances several functions
- as follows. EasyCASE v1.7 is a release which combines all of the maintenance
- releases of EasyCASE v1.61 through 1.69 into a single update.
-
- v1.61 11/24/89
-
- a. Re-wrote the HP LaserJet drivers so that less resident memory in the LaserJet
- printer is used allowing more complex charts to be printed at 300dpi on HP
- LaserJets equipped with only 512K of memory. However, depending on the complexity
- of a chart, it is still quite possible that it may become impossible to print
- out an entire page at 300 dpi resolution. This is a limitation imposed by the
- amount of memory present in the printer and the way complex images are stored,
- it is NOT caused by EasyCASE Plus. To guarantee printing of complex images at
- 300 dpi, you need 1 Mbyte of memory.
-
- b. Fixed a bug which was causing improper printing of images at 100dpi in
- Landscape paper orientation on LaserJet printers.
-
- c. Added support for printing on LaserJets at 75dpi, though with a slight
- descrease in the number of symbols which can fit on the page horizontally and
- vertically.
-
- d. Removed the LASERJET and DESKJET options from the printer selection menu
- and replaced them with HPLJ @ 75dpi and HPLJ @ 100dpi. DeskJet printers ARE
- LaserJet (HPLJ) compatible so you should select the appropriate HPLJ @ xxx dpi
- driver if you want to print on a DeskJet or DeskJet Plus.
-
- e. Fixed a bug which would cause endless beeping and lockup until the Escape
- key is pressed when selecting, under certain conditions, the (double ended)
- arrowheads option from the main menu or selecting a flow to change the number
- of arrowheads on.
-
- f. Added a new option to the #Arrowheads option dialog box. This option is only
- enabled for ERDs and enables you to draw an Association with a SINGLE
- arrowhead at the SOURCE end and a DOUBLE arrowhead at the DESTINATION end of
- the connection to represent, for example, one-to-many relationships. If you
- need a double arrow at the source and a single arrow at the destination, either
- draw the association connection in the opposite direction or select the option
- to change its direction.
-
- g. Added two more options to the Export menu to provide Microsoft Windows v2.03
- and PC Paintbrush files at 150 dpi resolution. The other options produce images
- at 90 dpi. The 150 dpi image is produced quite quickly but takes a lot longer to
- load into PageMaker, Designer, Ventura etc. and is larger than a normal page and
- hence has to be scaled to fit. This results in a slight reduction in quality but
- is still much better than the 90dpi image quality. Also, because the image does
- now consist of a lot more points, you are more likely to get an out-of-memory
- error when running applications under Microsft Windows when loading these 150dpi
- images into Windows applications such as PageMaker. The 150dpi image has NOT yet
- been tested with WordPerfect or Word v5, Ventura or Manuscript. The 90dpi images
- HAVE been tested with those products.
-
- v1.62 10/1/89
-
- a. Fixed a bug which would cause the program to 'hang' with an error #5, and
- possibly also an error #11, if an attempt was made to Save a chart file to a
- project directory specification, together with that of the filename and
- extension, to be saved exceeded 40 characters. This has been re-implemented to
- save a chart file in the default project directory only. Any path specification
- input will be ignored so as to avoid the error and also 'encourage' you to keep
- all your project chart files in the same project directory.
-
- b. Fixed a bug which could potentially cause a chart file created by earlier
- versions of EasyCASE to cause problems when saved and subsequently re-loaded.
-
- c. Improved the Zoom chart feature to simplify navigating around a large chart.
- While in the Zoom=4 (quarter size) mode, selecting Zoom=1 (actual size) mode,
- you will be prompted to select an area of the chart to zoom out to. If you
- press and hold the left mouse button, a yellow square will appear on screen,
- top left corner of which will be located coincident with the mouse pointer. If
- you then drag the mouse pointer across the screen (left mouse button still held
- down), the rectangle will move also. When you have encompassed the area of the
- chart you wish to appear actual size in the chart window, release the left mouse
- button. Note that this mechanism currently only applies when moving from zoom=4
- to zoom=1 modes.
-
- d. Changed the number of vertical rows printed on a page when printing to Epson
- LQ and compatible printers to prevent the bottom symbol row overflowing the
- paper perforation and ejecting excess pages. You now can print 13 rows instead
- of 14 previously available on this printer type.
-
- e. Can now start EasyCASE pointing to a project directory using the DOS
- abbreviated directory specification '..' without the need to also supply a
- chart name or type. For example, if EasyCASE is installed in directory
- C:\BIN\CASE\EASYCASE and your project files reside in directory C:\BIN\CASE\PROJECT
- you can now start EasyCASE from its directory for this project by entering the
- following command line - EASYCASE ..\PROJECT.
-
- f. Chart type now correctly appears at top left of screen if EasyCASE is
- started without specifying a chart type on the command line.
-
- g. Fixed a bug which would cause loss or duplication of an object label when
- Label Object option chosen from menu, object selected, label moved and chart
- scrolled prior to final label placement.
-
- v1.63 10/4/89
-
- a. Chart type extension correctly to 'New' filename whenever EasyCASE is
- started without starting without a chart filename specified on the command line.
- Similarly if started without specifiying a chart type on the command line.
-
- b. Symbol type selection now repeatable when running EasyCASE on a Hercules
- graphics card. If the previous menu option selected was SYMBOLS then clicking
- the left mouse button inside the chart window will place another of the
- previously selected symbol at the mouse pointer position.
-
- c. Fixed a number of bugs relating to the handling of the mouse pointer,
- highlighting and input box text attributes when running EasyCASE on the
- Hercules graphics card. Mouse pointer no longer lost when over the background
- of dialog boxes.
-
- d. Relocated several dialog boxes to center them on screen.
-
- e. Fixed a bug which would cause inability to select a zoom mode if a previous
- chart operation was cancelled.
-
- v1.64 10/7/89
-
- a. Re-wrote the Epson LQ Printer driver to prevent possible occurrences of an
- Error #14 message when attempting to print on wide paper with a large chart
- loaded.
-
- b. Fixed a bug which resulted in a 'File Not Found in module DRAW' after
- selecting the NEC/Okidata printer option. Renamed this option to Okidata 393
- Series of printers which are Epson LQ compatible 24 pin printers.
-
- c. Modified the dBASE III Plus Export so that ERD connections with one or two
- arrowheads at one end only of a connection are identified as 'One-to-Many'
- relationships, connections with one arrowhead at one end and two at the other
- are also 'One-to-Many' relationships and connections with one or two arrowheads
- at both ends are 'Many-to-Many'.
-
- v1.65 10/17/89
-
- a. Fixed a problem in EasyCASE Plus which could result in the mouse pointer
- breaking up, in Hercules graphics mode, after returning from the Editor
- accessible via the 'Down' option for child text files.
-
- b. Fixed a problem which would cause a page to be ejected from the printer
- connected to LPT1: if a print to FILE job was prematurely terminated by
- pressing the Escape key and selecting Yes to abort the print.
-
- v1.66 10/29/89
-
- a. Fixed a problem which would result in 'garbage' text labels being printed
- when printing a chart, in Hercules graphics mode, to an Epson LQ printer.
-
- b. Fixed a problem which would generate a 'Print Error #5' message when
- attempting to print to the 'PRN:' device. Output to PRN: is directed to LPT1:.
-
- c. Fixed a problem which would result in a system crash on attempting to return
- from the DOS Shell in Hercules graphics mode.
-
- d. Fixed a problem which would cause loss of menu colors after returning from
- the DOS shell in EGA Color mode.
-
- e. Fixed a problem which would result in 43 lines of text in the DOS Shell.
-
- v1.67 11/2/89
-
- a. Fixed a number of problems which caused charts to plot incorrectly on HP7475A
- Plotters in Portrait and Landscape orientation on A- and B-size paper when
- plotting to a device port or to a file. Problems included reversing on chart
- symbols and text horizontally and vertically, blank lines between character
- rows and clipping.
-
- b. Fixed a problem which could result in an Error #10 when re-exporting a chart
- file in dBASE format.
-
- c. Label text box is brought up before the Identifier selection dialog box when
- auto label and autoidentify selected.
-
- d. Area selection box no longer destroys menu text when moved around to select
- which area of the chart to zoom in to when changing from zoom=4 to zoom=1. Also
- zoom level selection box shadow removed to prevent corruption.
-
- e. Chart offset restored correctly when returning from Print Preview.
-
- f. Split/Merge (DFDs & TRGs) label placed correctly when in zoom modes.
-
- g. Fixed a problem which could result in an incorrect number of arrowheads
- being selected for interface or connecting flows depending on the current
- default number.
-
- h. Fixed a problem which could result in the wrong label being selected and pla
- ced at the top, left hand corner of the chart when a new object is placed and
- newly identified with auto identify mode selected.
-
- v1.28 1/90
-
- a. Improper chart file closure resulted if an error in the chart file was
- discovered during a load. Open file could be corrupted when going to plot or
- exporting under certain circumstances.
-
- b. When Plotting to a COM: Port, label lines would over-write due to lack of a
- line feed after a carriage return. Plotting to an LPT: port was OK.
-
- c. The size of the selection box when exporting a chart fragment in Paint file
- format at 150dpi was inaccurate. Also, less rows were exported at 150dpi than
- at 90dpi. 14 rows are now exported in both cases. The selection box now
- accurately bounds the chart fragment exported.
-
- d. An error occurred preventing use of the Microsoft Windows Paint v1.01 export
- file format.
-
- e. Automatic file backup feature has been temporarily removed as a bug in the
- compiler causes corruption of an area of memory in which the chart data is
- stored. Depending on the chart complexity and layout, chart (file) corruption
- could occur.
-
- f. Fixed a problem which resulted in inaccurate placement of labels in zoom
- modes 2 and 4. This could result in portions of label text characters being
- lost when printing at 300dpi resolution on LaserJets.
-
- v1.29 2/8/90
-
- a. Fixed a problem which causing loss of some parts of symbols and lines when p
- rinting at 150dpi on LaserJet printers in LANDSCAPE mode.
-
- b. Fixed a minor annoyance which would result in inversion of the image
- wherever portions of label text characters were located on top of symbols or
- lines.
-
- v1.30 2/12/90
-
- Fixed a problem which would result in a 'String Space Corrupt...' error
- message when using certain options after adding a TEXT Block to the chart with
- the 'Allow Label Place' option Off.
