  3. Please check the following before executing OzConv:
  4. --------------------------------------------------

  6. 1) Remove any forums form your OzCis 1.2 forum setup which are installed in
  7.    the OzCis 2.0 forum setup. Otherwise you will get duplicates and an unclean
  8.    system!
  9.  
  10. 2) Check all your Ver 1.2 forumpath's to make sure you don't have any *.U??
  11.    files.  These are library scan update files and will not be handled by
  12.    OzConv. To update your *.L??  or *.S??  files, please
  13.    enter OzCis 1.2, choose the correct forum, choose download and click on
  14.    every library section (with Libchain).  OzCis 1.2 will then automatically
  15.    update your *.L??  and *.S??  files with your *.U?? files.
  16.  
  17. 3) Ozcis 2.0 places a default Forums.db in your installation path. If you
  18.    later define a mail/forums path, this forums.db is the *only* valid
  19.    one. Please check this and delete (or rename) any non-valid forums.db.
  20.  
  21. 4) You *have* to setup a default (dummy) forum for V2.0 that can be used as
  22.    a pattern. This is necessary since I don't know all the stuff in the
  23.    forums.db and the purge options are too different. You can use a forum
  24.    that already exists as the pattern forum.

  26. 5) The program supports just one path level. I've didn't make
  27.    the effort to program a path parser. Some restriction have to be made!!
  28.  
  29.    That means - If your V2.0 forums.db is in path 'D:\OZ2\MAIL'

  39.    If you don't like these new path settings, you have to edit (move) them

  42. 6) Save file for Saved msg's '.SAV' extension is used.
  43.    Outbox filename '.OBS' extension is used.

  45. 7) Please ensure that there is enough free disk space! All files
  46.    will be copied, without erasing the old one!

  82. (Un)Commonly Q/A:

  84. Q: Why need a pattern/dummy forum?
  85. A: Since I've didn't written OzCis <G> I don't know which data have to be
  86. in the various fields, which are not shown on the screen.  To make sure there
  87. is no wrong data I need a dummy/pattern forum from where I can copy those
  88. data.

  90. Q: Can I cancel ozconv without cause any damage or problem?
  91. A: Yes, you can. But please remember 1) at the top of this read.me and
  92. remove those forums which were generated by the previous run before you excute
  93. ozconv one more time!

  95. Q: Why you don't convert the hosts.db?
  96. A: It seems that it's not worth the effort. Most user don't have more than
  97. three or four forums. It's easier to setup them manually.

  99. Q: I have a more complex path than ozconv support. What can I do?
  100. A: The best is to run ozconv and then move the files in the appropriate
  101. directory. Don't forget to change the forums path in the forums
  102. configuration!

  104. Q: Do I need a backup?
  105. A: Ozconv don't touch any Oz 1.x files. If you've already entered some
  106. forums in Oz 2.0 or/and make some 1st or 2nd passes you should either aware
  107. that this forums are deleted from Oz 1.x or make a backup/copy of these Oz
  108. 2.0 forums (including forums.db).

  110. Q: CP-AV say's there is a virus in ozconv.exe!
  111. A: No, there is no virus if you've downloaded it from CIS. These is a false
  112. alarm. Please download the newest signature file from CPSDOS lib 4.

  114. Q: Why you don't handle these .xyz files?
  115. A: Cause I don't know these .xyz files! <g> If it is something that should
  116. be handled post a message to me with explanation.

  118. Q: How much disk space need I?
  119. A: You need as much disk space as all your oz 1.x forums data files need.
  120. Including address book, forums.db, cismail.mes, etc.
