Power Tools for DOS is developed in Hypertext environment to take advantage of Hypertext search and navigational capabilities. Simply by a touch of your mouse or click of a key on your keyboard, you can link to the category or topic you would like to see.
Each screen background comes with a predefined set of function buttons to help and guide you through each category. You can search for a specific word or program name locally within a category or globally among all categories (only from main screen), read short or long descriptions about a program and if you like the program, copy it to your hard drive. You need to run the program from hard drive yourself.
If you encountered insufficient memory problems when trying to unzip a program, we
suggest that you go to Program Index file and try to unzip the same program from there.
The area between the two colored triangles is the link area to perform a function. The Red triangles are action links that perform decompression of files from CD-ROM to hard drive. The green triangles are hyperlinks between category of brief descriptions and expanded descriptions.
All program descriptions have the word Load between triangles, and by placing the cursor between link symbols and pressing RETURN or LEFT MOUSE key, you can automatically decompress the program to your hard drive. You need to enter the proper
drive and path name where you want the program to be copied to. Then You need to
exit the Power Tools and run the program from the directory it is copied to in the last step.
If you are using mouse, point the cursor at the link button or between link symbols and press LEFT MOUSE to activate the link to take you to the chosen destination. By pressing the RIGHT MOUSE, you will be returned to the previous topic.
If you are using keyboard only, use TAB to move to the next link button and SHIFT+TAB to move to the previous link button. When either TAB or SHIFT+TAB are used to move to a link, that link is displayed with an inverse video rectangle. When the link button is inverted, the F1 or RETURN key is used to activate the link.
Use the ESC key to return to the previous topic. If you ever have any problems running the Power Tools CD, on-line help is available, or you can call us at (714) 251-8600 for any technical support.

What is Shareware
Shareware is a different and unique way to sell software in which program users
purchase software directly from the author of the software. By doing this, they
eliminate many costs and obtain the software at cheaper prices. Also, with the
"Try-Before-You-Buy" method of software distribution, Shareware will save you
hundreds of dollars on software purchases.
Shareware programs are allowed to be copied and distributed among other users
as well with no or few restrictions. However, if users find the program useful, they
are requested to register with the author of the program and pay a small fee. The
registered users will receive many benefits such as technical support, full
documentation and future updates of the program.
Shareware is a competitve marketing alternative and many entrepreneurial
authors have been offering quality programs at unbeatable prices.
Shareware authors introduce new versions of their programs or offer new
programs which might meet your needs. It is suggested that you register with the
author of the program and bear in mind that Shareware is not a public domain.
Most of the software listed in this catalog is "Shareware", the rest is public domain.
Who regulates Shareware
Since 1987, the Association of Shareware Professionals have been dedicated to
establishing and regulating Shareware industry standards and guidelines for
Shareware software and its distribution.
