- The Resource Image Conversion Utility utility allows you to open a bitmap
- (.BMP), cursor (.CUR), icon (.ICO) or pointer (.PTR) file for viewing and
- conversion.

- It allows you to save the images either in OS/2 or Windows format.

- It also allows you to save individual images from cursor (.CUR), icon (.ICO) or
- pointer (.PTR) file as single images or as part of a group of images.

- The File action bar menu consists of the following menu items:

- The File Open... menu item allows you to open a bitmap (.BMP), cursor (.CUR),

- dialog will be displayed from which you can select the file to view and
- convert.

- The Save menu item is used to save bitmap, cursor, icon or pointer in the
- format selected in the Format action bar menu. The names under which the
- converted images are saved are taken from the entry fields beside each image.
- If the mode selected within the Mode action bar menu is Group, the entry field
- above the images is used.

- The Select filename... menu item allows you to select a bitmap (.BMP), cursor

- selected. The Select Filename dialog will be displayed from which you can
- select the filename to use.

- have opened be treated as a group or array of images. Both OS/2 and Windows
- support multiple images within cursor (.CUR), icon (.ICO) or pointer (.PTR)
- files.

- When in group mode, only one entry field will be present within the main window
- whereas when in item mode, each image will be associated with an entry field
- thereby allowing you to save individual images.

- Also, when in group mode, each image will be associated with a check box. The
- check will display the size of the image and the number of colors.

- By checking the check box, the image will be included in the file saved. By
- not checking the check box, the image will be excluded from the file saved.

- Note: This is the default

- You can specify that the cursor (.CUR), icon (.ICO) or pointer (.PTR) file you
- have opened be treated as a set of individual images. Both OS/2 and Windows
- support multiple images within cursor (.CUR), icon (.ICO) or pointer (.PTR)
- files.

- When in item mode, each image will be associated with an entry field thereby
- allowing you to save individual images whereas when in group mode, only one
- entry field will be present within the main window.

- The Product information... menu item cause the Product Information dialog to be
- displayed. This dialog contains the current version number of the utility and

- The Resource Image Conversion Utility main window is used to display the images
- of bitmap (.BMP), cursor (.CUR), icon (.ICO) or pointer (.PTR) file selected
- through the File Open menu.

- Each image contained within the selected file will be displayed showing the
- size of the image and the number of colors.
-
- You can specify the format of the output through the Format action bar menu.
- The default format is Windows..
-
- When you have selected a bitmap (.BMP) file, each image will be preceeded by an
- entry field. It is within this entry field that you entry the name of the file
- that you wish to save the converted image. The size of the image and the number
- of colors is displayed to the immediate right.

- Once you have entered the name of the file to save each converted image to and
- select the File Save menu item, only those images that have file specified will
- be saved to the file.
-
- When you have selected a cursor (.CUR), icon (.ICO) or pointer (.PTR) file, the
- images will be displayed in one of two ways depending on the mode. If the mode
- is Group, then one entry field will be displayed above all the images and the
- images will each be shown with a check box that states the size and number of
- colors. Each check box will be checked when the images are first displayed.

- Once you have entered the name of the file to save the converted images to and
- select the File Save menu item, only those images that have their associated
- check boxes checked will be saved to the file.

- If the mode is Items, then each image will be displayed preceded by an entry
- field. It is within this entry field that you entry the name of the file that
- you wish to save the converted image. The size of the image and the number of
- colors is displayed to the immediate right.

- Once you have entered the name of the file to save each converted image to and

- The Icon/Cursor/Pointer Preselection Options dialog allows you to configure the
- conversion utility to preselect only those types of icons and pointers you want
- to convert.

- For Windows, you can select from the following: 32 x 16 - 2 colors 32 x 32 - 2
- colors 16 x 16 - 16 colors 32 x 32 - 16 colors

- For OS/2, you can select from the following: 16 x 16 - 16 colors 20 x 20 - 16
- colors 32 x 32 - 16 colors 40 x 40 - 16 colors 64 x 64 - 16 colors 16 x 16 - 2
- colors 20 x 20 - 2 colors 32 x 16 - 2 colors 32 x 32 - 2 colors 40 x 40 - 256

- By default, all are preselected. Therefore, when you have selected an icon or
- cursor or pointer, the check box for each type contained within the icon or
- cursor or pointer will be checked automatically.

- If you do not want a particular type to be preselected, you only need to
- uncheck the item within this dialog.

- Note: The selections from this option also control how the command line
- resource conversion utility selects icons and pointers to be converted
- and saved.

- The Filename Selection dialog allows you to select a filename of a bitmap
