- Thankyou for trying SLIDE 2.4 for the Psion Series 3a
- ------------------------------------------------------
-
- New for v2.4 (over v2.2)
- ------------------------
- New Rolling demo mode in the slide player; a small bug-fix which prevented
- registration code from working!; a mod to allow correct playing of WVE
- files on the B drive; new code to allow you to move PIC and WVE files from
- drive to drive and SLIDE and SLIDEDIT will both track the changes and
- still find the files;
-
- New for v2.2
- -------------
- The main change from the prototype v1.1 is the addition of a proper
- hand-holding slide editor, which lays things out like 'real' slide
- presentation programs, and which allows slide sorting, editing, deleting
- etc.
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- There are many other detailed improvements, which you'll find out by
- reading through all the on-line help and by trying out the three 'example'
- slide-shows.
-
- Please note that I have deliberately restricted the file format and
- effects/features etc to allow complete compatibility with v1.1 slide
- shows. There may well be a place for a v3.x, with a whole new format and
- way of doing things, including many more fonts and special effects etc,
- but this isn't it!
-
- Synopsis
- --------
- SLIDE 2.4 is a slide-show/demo/tutorial system for the 3a, with graphics,
- WVE sound files and special effects.
-
- Registration etc (please read)
- ------------------------------
- SLIDE 2.4 is (C) UK 1995 Steve Litchfield and is released as shareware.
- The program is NOT free, and anyone making serious use of it should
- register with the author (address at end) by sending the appropiate
- amount in Sterling, US dollars, German Marks or French Francs, cash is
- most welcome if other methods of payment don't appear suitable.
-
- This program is NOT heavily nagged, and the only indication of having an
- unregistered version is the welcome screen displayed at the start of each
- SLIDEDIT session and the inability to *delete* slides from the main
- SLIDEDIT screen. Upon payment of the registration fee, a code will be
- supplied to disable the welcome screen, enable the delete function, and
- emblazon your name in large 'friendly' letters on the slide editor
- backdrop.
-
- The registration fee is 10.00 UK pounds of equivalent in $, DM or ff.
-
- Installation of the SLIDE program
- ---------------------------------
- The Easy way: modify INSTALL.SCR to suit your disks (.DBF files on RAM or
- internal disk, everything else on a Flash??) and execute from MC-LINK and
- then install the two OPAs ...
-
- The long way:
- (i) Copy SLIDE.OPA and SLIDEDIT.OPA into an \APP\ directory of
- your choice on any drive and use Psion-I to install each of them,
- as usual. You'll see two icons, one showing the RECORD video
- buttons and one showing PLAY/PAUSE buttons. It should be obvious to
- you that the RECORD icon is for SLIDEDIT etc ....
- (ii) Make a \SLIDES\ directory on your working (not Flash) disk and copy
- the SDEMO, 3LIBDEMO & CORPORAT.DBF files across into it. These are
- example slide-show files.
- (iii) Put the .PIC files into \PIC\ on any drive and the .WVE files into
- \WVE\ on any drive.
-
- Editing
- -------
- Use SLIDEDIT to modify existing slide-shows or create your own, in the
- usual Psion way ... The system screen will show up any slide-show DBF
- files it finds inside any \SLIDES\ directory ...
-
-
- Playing
- -------
- Just press ENTER on the correct filename under the SLIDE PLAY/PAUSE icon
- and your chosen slide-show will kick off. Use the Menu button whilst
- playing a slide show to alter the way the show is presented ....
-
- Note: PIC files wider than 80 pixels will be centred on the screen
- and displayed for 'background' effect in the grey plane unless the
- 'Gallery' option is used, as shown in the example slide shows. PIC files
- less than 80 pixels wide will remain in the black plane and will appear
- on the left of the slide text.
-
- Note: The pause is the wait time in seconds at the end of each slide
- before the screen is cleared and the next slide shown. The user can press
- any key to go directly to the next slide without waiting for the time
- delay to expire. If no pause is specified, the default is 5 seconds. If
- the user wishes to pause for longer on a particular slide, pressing
- 'Psion-P' will pause the slide-show until another key is pressed. For
- 'infinite' pause, you can specify 0 seconds.
-
-
- Slide-show distribution
- -----------------------
- If you want to upload your slide-shows to bulletin boards etc for
- others to try, please keep them separate from the SLID24.ZIP file that
- you obtained this program in. If you wish, send me a copy as well
- (with your registration fee !! 8-] )
