  3. INTRODUCTION:

  5. Journey is a utility to maintain and search timetables for routes between
  6. two places.
  7.  
  8. The program is basically in two parts, one to enter and edit timetables,
  9. and one to search them for the best journey.
  10.  
  11. The program is still in a relatively early state and I hope to release a
  12. version with an improved user interface soon.
  13.  
  14. DISCLIAMER: The author believes this program to be correct (with the 
  15. exception of any known problems documented here). This does not mean that
  16. the program is warrantied for any purpose. Responsibility for checking the
  17. correctness of any input/output resides with the user.

  20. Other software available
  21. XFILE 1.3 - Avoid the 50 Icon limit and allow icons in ANY application to
  22.             be changed on screen. Shareware.
  23. NOREV 1.3 - Prevent reverse translation of OPL object code. This product 
  24.             is individually tailored to prevent other users from accessing
  25.             your protected programs and so will only work if registered.
  26.             Registration costs £10.

  29. HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:

  31. This program while designed on a PSION 3A 2MB should work on the smaller 
  32. machines and. The program will not run on the PSION 3 classic.

  35. CONDITIONS OF USE:

  37. This program was been released as shareware. This means that while you are
  38. allowed to user the program for a limited period, you should register your
  39. use of the program if you plan to continue using this or future versions.

  41. The object code and source code, including screen layouts and any other 
  42. software supplied with this product except when otherwise stated does not
  43. belong to the user. Copyright resides with the author and all rights are
  44. reserved.

  46. This program is protected against reverse translation by Norev v1.3 and
  47. any attempts to reverse translate the object or to access any of the 
  48. routines supplied by any means not listed below will be deemed to be an
  49. infingement of the conditions of use.

  51. The only means by which this program can be run is as follows.
  52. a) as a standard psion OPO file using the normal Psion method of running.
  53. b) Via an application installer/launcher such as XFILE or JB LAUNCH.

  70. INSTALLATION :

  72. The following files are provided and should be copied into the appropraite
  73. directories.

  76. JOURNEY1.LIB  any /OPO/ directory

  79. Journey can then be installed in the normal manner.

  85. HOW TO USE :
  86.  
  87. The following notes are that, notes. Full documentation is intended for
  88. future versions but this may depend on the number of registered users.
  89. (there is little point in documenting a program if only I find it of use)

  92. Setting up:
  93.  
  94. To use the program you first have to enter the timetables using the SETUP
  95. option from the main menu.
  96.  
  97. Files should be created in the following order.
  98.  
  99. a) LOCATIONS : details of the various stop points in each timetable
  100.  
  101. b) MODES : details of the journey's mode ir Bus, Train etc..
  102.  
  103. c) PROTOTYPES : A general layout of a journey giving the average times
  104. between the stops made within a journey.
  105.  
  106. d) JOURNEY : Details of the Specific journeys within the timetable. These
  107. details are defaulted from the associated prototype to save typing.

  109. e) TIMETABLE : The final file. This is automatically generated from the
  110. above files.

  112. Once you have set up the data the rest should be self explanatory, but 
  113. please feel free to write if you have problems.

  117. CURRENT LIMITATIONS/PROBLEMS:
  118.  
  119. - Error checking is limited especially relating to checks for files existing.
  120. - EDIT/VIEW/DELETE option has a tendancy to skip records. This does not
  121.   actually cause any problems, but is a little annoying. I do not plan to
  122.   correct this because the next release will probably have a redesigned
  123.   user interface
  124. - It is planned that the dialog screens will be altered as part of the
  125.   new user interface in future versions. This will make using the software
  126.   easier.
  127. - Searches for journeys starting before midnight but ending afterwards are
  128.   currently not implemented (exepect in one particular case). This is not a 
  129.   bug, but a deliberate ommission at this time.
  130. - Future changes will include a means of defining a way of setting up info
  131.   on times to travel between one location and annother when this is not via
  132.   a timetabled service, ie It takes 2 minutes to get from Aberdeen railway
  133.   station and Aberdeen bus station. This will allow these to be set as 
  134.   different locations and give more accurate journey statistics.
