Introduction:JAICNV is short for "JAI Convert". It is a general purpose>conversion utility for the Psion 3a, that computes for you the>conversion of a number from one unit to another. It is general=purpose because the conversion rules are stored in a database@that can be modified with the standard Data tool. You can simply
add more conversions.?JAI is short for "Just An Idea". In French (written as J'ai) it&also means "I have" (an idea/a dream).

Opening screen<On the opening screen you can (except for showing this help)(- Go to the main screen (with Enter key)
- Show the menu (with Menu key)5- Do some actions (with fast keys as listed after the
menu-items)!- Exit the program (with Psion-X)
help:
Main screen6On the main screen the actual conversions can be done.8To confirm an action, you must always press Enter. It is<important in which field you press Enter. E.g. in the "From"'field, than the "To" value is computed.<Initially, and possibly later on, some fields are protected.?First select a category, and press Enter in the category field.9Then select the units, and press Enter in one of the unit'fields. Then the values can be entered.
help:
Entering values:In most cases you can enter values both in the From and To=fields. Press Enter in one of the value fields, and the other
value is computed.?Besides values also expressions may be entered, as long as they;result in a value. They can be any valid OPL expression. So=besides operators (+,-,*,/,**,%), also functions (like sin(),<cos(), pi, ln(), exp(), even rnd), Calc memories (M0 to M9),$hexadecimal numbers (e.g. $0D), etc.
help:
Memory menu>From the memory menu you can store the value of the From or To9field on the main screen in a Calc memory. It is directly>available in Calc, and with the Compute function also in Data,>Word and Sheet. The contents of the memory can also be used in
Jaicnv later on.<For storing, only one memory is active at a time. The active6memory can be changed with the "Change memory" option.
help:
Special menu@From the special menu you can change the way computed values are>shown. Both the type (scientific, fixed point or optimal), the<number of decimals and the maximum width of the value can be@changed. Optimal will choose either scientific or fixed. Optimal$does not use the number of decimals.>The preferences and the current active memory can be stored in
the currently open database.3
