  4. This is a Psion 3a chord-finding application, for stringed instruments.

  6. This package should contain the following files:

  8.    chord10.opa    The chord finder application.
  9.    chdbook.odb    The database of 'book' chords.
  10.    chdguess.odb   The database of chord spellings.
  11.    chdhelp.rsc    The on-line help file.
  12.    chdhelp.txt    Plain text version of help.
  13.    readme.txt     This file.

  16. Installation
  17. ------------

  19. Copy:
  20.  
  21.    chord10.opa to any \app\ directory.
  22.    chdbook.odb, chdguess.odb and chdhelp.rsc to any \app\chord\ directory.

  24. Install the program by pressing Psion-I at the Psion system screen and
  25. then selecting Chord10.opa.
  26.  
  27. If you do not want on-line help you do not need to copy chdhelp.rsc.
  28.  
  29. If you do not play a guitar with standard EBGDAE tuning, then you
  30. don't need to copy chdbook.odb (the program will run without access
  31. to the 'book' mode - see later).

  33. The program creates two files on the internal drive of your Psion:
  34.  
  35.    \opd\chord.ini      Contains setup details.
  36.    \chd\chord.chd      The default file for saving your chords. Any new
  37.                        files you create are saved, by default, in this
  38.                        \chd\ directory.
  39.  
  40. NOTE: it would be unwise to save chd files to a flash SSD, as the
  41.       program appends changes to the file (like Data and Agenda). On
  42.       a flash SSD this space would not be recovered, and the files
  43.       would eat up disk space. On a RAM pack, or on the internal drive,
  44.       the files are compressed automatically when they are saved.

  47. How Does It Work?
  48. -----------------

  50. At its simplest, press the space bar, then type in the chord name,
  51. e.g. Cm7. The chord will be displayed with relevant details. Then
  52. press the space bar again to find another inversion, or press the
  53. enter key to store the chord in one of the ten chord boxes.

  55. See the file chdhelp.txt for a full manual. This is also available
  56. from within the program via the help key.

  62. Chord is shareware, not free software. If you continue to use it then
  63. send ten UK pounds to:

  67. I will send you a code which will disable the registration screen
  68. which pops up to remind you that programs like this take a long time
  69. to write!

  71. If you are registering from outside the UK, then please send either
  72. 10 UK pounds in cash, or round up to the nearest amount to 12 UK
  73. pounds (to cover bank charges) in paper notes in your own currency,
  74.

  76. free to offer suggestions, ideally by email. If you have an email
  77. number, quote it when registering, as this is the quickest way
  78. for me to send you your code.
