  9. * MCLINK runs happily under the PC emulator on the Archimedes, but the
  10.   3-Link cable doesn't work properly with the Archimedes' non-standard
  11.   serial port.

  13. * To make a conversion lead, you need
  14.   2 9-pin D plugs, 1 male, 1 female.
  15.   2 metalised D hoods
  16.   a length of 9-way screened RS-232-use cable.

  29. * To change the Archimedes software to default to the same as the Series 3,
  30.   use the *Configure command:
  31.    *CONFIGURE BAUD 7                                  [sets to 9600]
  32.    *CONFIGURE DATA 5     (followed by Ctrl-Break)     [sets to 8bits no parity]

  34.   You can now check the settings by typing *STATUS

  36. * MCLINK can now be run and should work as advertised for a PC etc

  39. The above works OK for Archimedes PC emulator versions 1.34 and 1.70. A3000
  40. users would have to check they have the serial chips fitted. No testing has
  41. been carried out on A5000s.
