  6. SYNCHRO is a file synchronization program for PSION.
  7. It's purpose is to copy files back and forth between your PSION and a desktop computer (Mac or PC), but it can be used to synchronize files between any two disks or directories of the PSION.

  9. It had been designed on PSION 3a, but should run on 3c and would'nt on Siena.

  11. I - Shareware :
  12.  
  13. SYNCHRO is a shareware. It means that :
  14.     - If, after a period of test, you decide to keep it, you have to contribute to the author (see "Shareware" by typing W).
  15.     - You can freely distribute this software unmodified and including every files of the package.

  18. II - Installation
  19.  
  20. 6 files are in the SYNCHRO package :
  21.         - Synchro.opa
  22.         - Synchro.rsc
  23.         - Synchro.dat
  24.         - Synchro2.dat
  25.         - Synchro3.dat
  26.         - Synchro4.dat
  27. Installation steps :
  28.     1 - copy Synchro.opa in the APP\ (M:\APP\) directory
  29.     2 - Create a sub-directory in APP\ : SYN\
  30.     3 - Copy Synchro.rsc in the APP\SYN\ directory
  31.     4 - Copy Synchro.dat in the APP\SYN\ directory
  32.     5 - Copy Synchro2.dat in the APP\SYN\ directory
  33.     6 - Copy Synchro3.dat in the APP\SYN\ directory
  34.     7 - Copy Synchro4.dat in the APP\SYN\ directory
  35.     8 - Install Synchro.opa  (Psion-I)

  38. III - Using SYNCHRO:
  39.  
  40. 1 - The first thing to do is to set up local and remote directories. You need also to tell Synchro what is the remote system : Mac / PC / Psion.
  41. 2 - Run McLink on your Mac or PC (except if local and remote directories are on the Psion !)
  42. 3 - You can launch the synchronisation process. Type "L" (the 3-link management is automatic).

  45. IV - How does it works ?

  47. There is several case :
  48. 1 - File exists in local directory dut doesn't in remote one :
  49.         => copy file local -> remote
  50. 2 - File exists in remote directory dut doesn't in local one :
  51.         => copy file remote -> local
  52. 3 - File exists in local and remote directories :
  53.     3.1 - local date > remote date AND remote date < last synchronization date
  54.         => copy file local -> remote
  55.     3.2 - local date < remote date AND local date < last synchronization date
  56.         => copy file remote -> local
  57.     3.3 - Both local and remote files had been modified since last synchronisation
  58.         => Problem. Synchro skip this file and tell you at the end of the process
