  7. version of Kar Kare.

  11. EMERGENCY DATABASE RESTORE INSTRUCTIONS:

  13. Q: How can I recover my backed up database in an emergency?
  14.  
  15. Note: If you have to reload your Pilot, do NOT reload the
  16. "karkare.prc" from this ZIP and run it until you restore the
  17. Kar Kare database as outlined below!
  18.  
  19. If your Pilot crashes and needs to be completely reloaded,
  20. you will need to reload the "karkare.prc" file from this .ZIP
  21. file AND the "KarKareDB.pdb" database file.  The KarKareDB.pdb
  22. file can be found (for PC users) in the "Backup" directory stored
  23. with your user's files under the Pilot software directory.  On my
  24. system, for example, the file would be:

  26. c:\pilot\GoldenL\Backup\KarKareDB.pdb
  27.  
  28. To reiterate, be SURE that you install "karkare.prc" AND
  29. "KarKareDB.pdb" at the same time, BEFORE you run Kar Kare for
  30. the first time after your restore.

  32. Once you have done the restore, you may need to reset your
  33. "Mileage at last fill up" odometer.  To do this: start Kar Kare,
  34. tap the "View Log" button to see what the last
  35. recorded ending mileage was, unlock the padlock on the odometer,
  36. and reset the mileage to the correct value.
