  13. Note: This is a demo version of HandFax 1.0, fax-sending software for
  14. 3Com/US Robotics PalmPilot connected organizers.

  18. I. INSTALLATION
  19. ===============================================================================

  21. Thank you for taking the time to evaluate HandFax. This version is for 
  22. testing purposes only, and therefore behaves just a bit differently than 
  23. the real version...
  24.  
  25. In particular, the demo puts the Smartcode Software logo and a big
  26. HandFax logo on the cover page, and it only sends the first 2 lines of
  27. memos that you attach (the rest of the second page contains a HandFax
  28. fact sheet). Sorry for the inconvenience.
  29.  
  30. To install the product on your Pilot/PalmPilot:
  31.  
  32. 1.  Place the Pilot/PalmPilot in its cradle, and connect the cable to your 
  33.     Windows or Macintosh desktop computer
  34.  
  35. 2.  Copy the file HFDemo.prc to your hard disk (or install it directly 
  36.     from the floppy drive)
  37.  
  38. 3.  Start the application InstApp.exe (Windows) or InstallApp (Macintosh)
  39.     on your desktop computer. Use the Browse button to locate and select
  40.     the file HFDemo.prc
  41.  
  42. 4.  Your selection will be confirmed, and HandFax will be copied to your 
  43.     Pilot/PalmPilot next time you run HotSync
  44.  
  45. Perform a HotSync to load the application onto the Pilot/PalmPilot:
  46.  
  47. 1. Start the HotSync Manager application in your desktop computer
  48.  
  49. 2. Press the HotSync button on the Pilot/PalmPilot cradle to 
  50.    begin file transfer

  57. HandFax  may be used with all 3Com/U.S. Robotics Pilot 1000, 5000, and 
  58. PalmPilot-series personal organizers.

  60. Approximately 70 Kb of free system  memory are needed for the 
  61. application
