Thank you for trying PAL. PAL is a powerful alternative to the built-in
Applications screen, allowing categorization of applications for a much
more logical navigation between applications. It is also shareware.
The evaluation period is 30 days. If you continue to use it after 30
days, you are required to register.

This version should properly install over the top of the previous
version.

Categories:
In PAL you can create up to 15 different categories in which to file
your applications. To edit the category list tap on the category
selector at the bottom-right corner of the PAL screen and select
"Edit Categories..."

Assigning Apps:
To assign applications to specific categories, select "Edit Apps"
from the "Options" menu. You will be presented with a list of all of
the Applications currently installed in PAL. To change the category
for an application, tap on the application's name in the list on the
left, then select the category from the category selector on the
right. Repeat this until all of your applications have been assigned
to the categories that you want, then click "Done."

Adding/Deleting Applications:
PAL does not know when you have added or delete applications on your
Pilot. After you have added or delete an application, you will need
to select "Update Apps" from the "Options" menu in PAL. PAL will
remove the icons for any apps no longer found on your Pilot and will
create Icons for any new apps in the Unfiled category.

Status Bar:
On the bottom of the PAL screen you will see a bar containing the
current Date, Time, Battery Voltage. Tapping on the Time will launch
your Pilot's Preferences application, allowing you to change the
current date and time. Tapping on the voltage indicator will toggle
between three different formats of voltage display. To change the
display format of the date and time, select "Preferences" from the
"Options" menu.

Icon Buttons:
These buttons display on your status bar and allow quick access to
Reset(paper clip), Lock(padlock) and Power Off(sunburst). You can
disable any or all of these buttons from the "Preferences" option on
the "Options" menu.

Registration
------------
The registration fee for PAL is $12(US). Registration entitles you
to all future versions of PAL. There are several ways to register:

First Virtual:
If you have a first virtual account, you may register from the
following web page:

CompuServe:
To register via CompuServe, go to the shareware registration database
(GO:SWREG). The ID number for PAL is 13668. The $12 fee will be charged
to your CompuServe account.

Mail:
To register by mail, send a check or money order for $12(US funds only)

NOTE: If you register via mail, you MUST include an email address or
an additional $2 to cover the cost of the diskette and postage.

  category selector could cause a lock-up.(PalmPilot only)

  Grafiti character on PalmPilot
* Added a "Welcome to PAL" screens that directs new users to 'Edit
  Apps' screen to categorize apps, as well as to this text file for
  further info - too many "How do I assign my apps? emails"

1.22 - Minor Bugfix
* Fixed year display bug-PAL used to only display 1996 for the year,
  regardless of the actual current date. Now displays correct year, if
  other than 1996.
* Fixed voltage display bug for voltage levels < 2.00. The percent bar
  and percent text now reflect 0% for any value lower than 2.00 volts.
  (2.00 volts is the recommended level at which to change your
  batteries)

1.21 - Minor Enhancement/Bugfix
* Fixed bug in which application names in PAL could be corrupted or
  deleted after editing in PAL
* Add toggles in the Preferences screen to allow Reset, Lock and
  Power icon buttons to be disabled

1.20 - Enhancement
* Added two additional options for battery voltage display: percent
  and bar. Tap on voltage to toggle.
* Now uses Pilot's built-in security feature, rather than the limited
  numeric-code security.
* Automatically turns the Pilot off when locked.
* Increased status bar to two rows allowing date, time and volate to
  display simultaneously.
* Added an 'icon bar' for single-tap access to reset, lock and power
  functions
* Now uses same application names as the built-in applications screen
  to save screen real-estate and provide better functionality on non-
  US Pilots
* Added the ability to change the text associated with app icons
* After starting PAL, additional taps on the Applications button will
  cycle through the app categories
* Tapping on the time now launches the Prefs app for changing the
  date & time.
* Fixed minor redraw bug when dragging from an app icon into an empty
  space

1.10 - Enhancement/Bugfix
* Added a 'Lock Pilot' feature.
* Made the category pop-up list size dynamically the number of items
  in the list.
* Increased functionality of the hardware pageup/pagedown buttons.
  When at the top page of a category, pageup moves to previous
  category. When at the bottom page of a category, pagedown moves
  to next category.
* Fixed update apps/edit apps memory bugs
