  3. You will find this utility to be extremely helpful as an ever-
  4. ready scrolling note-taker sitting on your desktop.
  5.  
  6. WinJottr can be anything from a simple scratch pad that you erase
  7. when you're done to a running journal that is saved to a file once
  8. a month and kept as a log.  
  9.  
  10. It can be started when needed (it will always reappear where it 
  11. was last, with the last file saved loaded for editing) - or left 
  12. in an inconspicuous corner of the screen on a constant basis (this
  13. is how I use WinJottr).  WinJottr's AlwaysOnTop option, along with
  14. the automatic Date and Time stamps make this an ideal desktop 
  15. companion for the busy computer user.

  28. The files below are in compressed format and will be expanded by 
  29. SETUPWJ when it is run - they CANNOT be used directly:

  31. CMDIALOG.VB_ - Visual Basic custom control file to be placed in 
  32.             /WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory by SETUPWJ.EXE
  33. WINJTR10.EX_ - The executable program file
  34. WINJTR10.FR_ - Registration form in Windows Write format 
  35.             called by registration procedure
  36. WINJTR10.HL_ - The help file supporting WinJottr
  37. WINJTR10.JO_ - Example WinJottr text file
  38. WINJTR10.RE_ - Information on shareware in Windows Write format 
  39.             called by registration procedure
  40. README.WR_ - The help documentation in Windows Write format
  41. REGISTER.TX_ - Registration form in ASCII format

  44. IMPORTANT: WinJottr is a Microsoft Visual Basic program and 
  45. requires that the file VBRUN300.DLL be in the /WINDOWS/SYSTEM 
  46. directory (or elsewhere on the path) of your computer.  This 
  47. file is widely available and hence, because of its very large 
  48. size, is not distributed with WinJottr as part of the JOTTR_10.ZIP
  49. or JOTTR.ZIP archive.  It is available on CompuServe in the 
  50. WinShare Forum, Library 1 as VBRUN3.ZIP.  It is also available
  51. from virtually every other bulletin board and catalog operation 
  52. in the world.  Do not proceed with the installation of WinJottr 
  53. until you have verified that this file is in your /WINDOWS/SYSTEM 
  54. directory OR the file VBRUN300.DL_ is located in the same 
  55. directory as OWSETUP.EXE and JOTTR_10.ZIP (this will be the case 
  56. if you are installing from a disk received directly from 
  57. Open Windows)!!

  61. To install WinJottr 1.0 from a floppy disk received from 
  62. Open Windows:
  63.  
  64. 1.  While in Windows, insert the floppy disk in the drive.
  65.  
  66. 2.  Open File Manager and select the floppy disk.
  67.  
  68. 3.  Double click on the file OWSETUP.EXE to run it.
  69.  
  70. 4.  Follow the on-screen directions.

  74. To install WinJottr 1.0 starting with only a copy of JOTTR_10.ZIP
  75. (JOTTR.ZIP  if obtained from CompuServe):
  76.  
  77. 1.  Create a temporary directory (C:\WJTR will do) on your 
  78. hard drive.  
  79.  
  80. 2.  Copy JOTTR_10.ZIP to this directory.
  81.  
  82. 3.  Unzip the file using PKUnZip or other "UNZIPper".  This 
  83. should produce the files listed in the packing list above.

  85. 4.  Run SETUPWJ.EXE from Windows.  This will take you through 
  86. the procedure of installing WinJottr on your hard disk.

  88. 5.  You may delete all of the files in the temporary directory 
  89. from your hard drive after completing the installation process, 
  90. but remember to save a copy of JOTTR_10.ZIP on a floppy for 
  91. friends who may wish to try WinJottr.
