  5. We at CONSULTRON would like to thank you for purchasing CrossDOS.  We
  6. are  always  trying  to  provide  you with a quality product for your
  7. productivity needs.

  9. The files included with this archive are patches to be applied to the
  10. CrossDOS (full READ/WRITE) installation disk.  [Please make a copy of
  11. the installation disk first].
  12.  
  13. The major feature enhancements for Version 4.0 of CrossDOS are:
  14. - faster floppy data access; improvements to "mfm.device"
  15. - AmigaDOS V2.0 compatible
  16. - better error reporting
  17. - electronic bulletin board suport

  21. Patching CrossDOS
  22.  
  23. These   patches   will   only   patch  your  CrossDOS  version  4.00a
  24. installation   disk  are  applied.   The  files  being  patched  are:
  25. "L/MSDOSFileSystem" and "DEVS/mfm.device".  If you see messages about
  26. not  being  able  to apply a patch, make sure the version of CrossDOS
  27. you are patching is version 4.01a.
  28.  
  29. You can install the patches from either WORKBENCH or the CLI.
  30.  
  31. To install the patches from the CLI, type the following:
  32.  
  33.     cd <patch_dir>          ; the directory where the patch files are.
  34.     execute patchMFS df0:   ; df0: or drive where CrossDOS disk in.
  35.  
  36. To install the patches from WORKBENCH, select the "patchMFS" icon and
  37. extend-select  (with  shift  key held) the CrossDOS installation disk
  38. icon.  ["ICONX" is assumed to be in your "C:" directory.]
  39.  
  40. The messages should display the status of the patching process.  Once
  41. the  patches  are  applied and if you originally installed it on your
  42. system  disk,  you  should re-install the new "L/MSDOSFileSystem" and
  43. "DEVS/mfm.device" into your "L:" and "DEVS:" directories respectively
  44. or use the installation program provided with CrossDOS.
  45.  
  46. Patches  to  the international and Danish versions of the file system
  47. are available in a file called "CDP402aINTL.lzh".
  48.  
  49. If  you  do  have  an  eariler  version of CrossDOS, you will need to
  50. upgrade  your disk to version 4.00a before you can use these patches.

  77. Please  distribute  this  archive INTACT to any legal bulletin board.
  78. We  are  allowing  registered purchasers of CrossDOS to upgrade their
  79. version  of the product (Version 4) to the current release at no cost
  80. as  long  as they use these patches.  Those who do not have access to
  81. these  patch  files  may  send  in $10.00, the original disk, and the
  82. completed  warranty  card.   We  will  update the disk to the current
  83. version and send it back.

  85. Updating "pirated" versions of CrossDOS are legally prohibited.

  93. Updates to CrossDOS Utilities

  95. There  have  also been some updates to the CrossDOS utilities.  These
  96. new files are contained in a separate file called "CDU402.lzh".  Most
  97. of the changes are to provide better WORKBENCH support.
