  6.      In a long (endless) line of Amiga hacks I present : DiskTalk.
  7.  
  8.      DiskTalk will monitor disk activity and whenever a disk is ejected or
  9. inserted it will play one of two samples.  The effect can be hilarious.
  10. Because it's the year of batmania I have included two appropriate samples.
  11. Just try the program out by double-clicking its icon.

  13.      CLI USAGE:

  15.           "1> Run DiskTalk <diskin sound> <diskout sound>"

  17.      WB USAGE:
  18.  
  19.           Click the icon once, use the 'Info' command in the 'WorkBench' menu
  20.        and enter "SOUNDS= <diskin sound> <diskout sound>" in the tooltypes.

  23. NOTE:
  24.  
  25.    - The samples are loaded in chip memory, so this program can limit
  26.      multitasking a lot.  But remember, it's only a hack.
  27.    - You can use your own samples very easily, just save them as an IFF file.
  28.    - Raw samples can also be read, but they will always be played at 10KHz.
  29.    - The effect is a zillion times funnier if you leave DiskTalk running and
  30.      you forget it's there.
  31.    - Use the close gadget to quit or send a break command (CTRL-C).
  32.    - You can crunch the soundfiles with PowerPacker (one of my utilities) to
  33.      save some diskspace (samples crunch VERY badly though, +-10%), DiskTalk
  34.      will recognize this and decrunch the files.
