  2.     A Replacement for the Old Device Drivers for OTRONIC
  3.                    SCSI Controller Boards
  4.  
  5. For rebuilding the binaries you may need:
  6.  
  7.     - Aztec C V5.2a;
  8.  
  9.     - GNU sed version 1.01 ( Fish Disk Nr: 231 ).
  10.           I use a private port of version 1.08;
  11.  
  12.     - MV from Fish Disk 219.
  13.  
  14. The binaries in "bin" are for AMIGAS with MC680x0 ( x > 1 ).

  17.     Hardware Guide
  18.  
  19. Users from OTRONIC OSSI-SCSI-CONTROLLER boards can
  20. replace their EPROM resident device driver:
  21.  
  22.     - Open the Controller;
  23.  
  24.     - There are 1 2764D and 1 27128A;
  25.  
  26.     - Clear both chips with an EPROM erasing device;
  27.  
  28.     - Reburn 2764D with file "EPROM_68000/ROMHD.64";
  29.  
  30.     - Reburn 27128A with file "EPROM_68000/ROMHD.128";
  31.  
  32.         - Short jumpers 1-2 for autobooting with new driver;
  33.  
  34.         - Or 2-3 for disabling autoboot from new driver ( In this case 
  35.           you must use binddrivers for starting );
  36.  
  37.         - Reassemble the controller box and have fun....

  40.     Software Guide:
  41.  
  42. Before reburning your EPROMS you can test your hard drive:
  43.        
  44. (*)     - Copy expansion/HardDisk to sys:expansion/ on a WorkBench disk;
  45.  
  46.         - POWER DOWN your machine;
  47.  
  48.         - Disable Autoboot on your Controller Board under the old
  49.           EPROM resident driver ( Jumpering 1-2 );
  50.  
  51.         - POWER UP your machine;
  52.  
  53.         - Load KickStart 1.3 or 2.0 on A-1000 machines;
  54.  
  55.         - Reset your machine with empty drive slots;
  56.  
  57.         - Now the machine should'nt boot;
  58.  
  59.         - Insert the WorkBench Disk prepared as described in step (*)
  60.           with the reset resident version "HardDisk" in sys:expansion/;
  61.  
  62.         - Open a Shell Window and type: BindDrivers;
  63.  
  64.         - Your hard drive(s) should respond with a short flash of their LEDS;
  65.  
  66.         - Reset your machine with empty drive slots;
  67.  
  68.         - Now your machine should boot
  69.           from the new reset resident driver after
  70.           every reset, unless you activate KillOssiDriver
  71.           on machines with Kickstart 1.3 and beyond.
  72.  
  73.         - Activating partitions under Kickstart 1.2,
  74.           you must refer explicitely
  75.           partitions after invoking BindDrivers. 
  76.           Example: The name of a partition is
  77.           HD0:, the command line "cd HD0:" in your
  78.           startup-sequence of the WorkBench Disk
  79.           activates the named hard disk partition.

  84.                          BindDrivers ; this activates the driver
  85.                          cd HD0:     ; this actives (from device driver)

  89. If the above steps work you can reburn your EPROMS and the machine
  90. should autoboot with jumpers 1-2 connected from the EPROMS
  91. after POWER UP on AMIGA-500 and after loading Kickstart on A-1000.
  92.         
  93. Hints:  You find these EPROM types on nearly every old 
  94.         PC-clone motherboards or similar hardware junk 
  95.         if you want preserve
  96.         your original EPROMS ( A very Cheap solution );
  97.  
  98.         Grounding PIN 26 of the 2764D socket allows the usage
  99.         of another 27128A as replacement if you burn the lower 4KB of 
  100.         this chip with "EPROM_68000/ROMHD.64" thus using two 27128A instead
  101.         of the original 27128A/2764D pair;
  102.  
  103.         Other
  104.         Suitable EPROMS: D27128A/L7490293S from Intel ( 12.5V )
  105.                          D27128A/L7150289S from Intel ( 12.5V );
  106.  
  107.     Due to the mapping of the original on board SCSI-connector with
  108.         50 pins into 37 pins for the external OSSI-SCSI drive box
  109.         there exists a NOT CONNECT condition for /ATN.
  110.         You should connect pin 32 of the connector with pin 15 of
  111.         the AM5380PC controller chip. Now you can use
  112.         a standard SCSI-cable for connecting external SCSI-boxes
  113.         to your OTRONIC controller;
  114.  
  115.         The on board 50 pin connector points to the front side if
  116.         you connect the controller to an AMIGA-1000!!

  156.         For partitioning of large disks like FUTJITSU M2266S/H 1GB
  157.         you should use the standard COMMODORE tool HDToolbox from
  158.         a CLI console, type in: hdtoolbox hd.device;
  159.  
  160.         DiskDefine only works correctly with small SCSI drives;
  161.  
  162.         I tested my device driver with CONNER 3200CP 200MB, FUTJITSU M2266S/H
  163.         1 GB, SyQuest 88MB, Archive Viper Tape Streamer, SEAGATE 296N 80 MB;
  164.  
  165.         The new device driver also works with Kickstart 37.175 
  166.         and WorkBench 37.67.

  169. due to using my device driver or performing the above upgrades!!

  172.      the supplied binaries and every thing works well,
  173.      or if there is a hard disk not supported from my driver, send mail
