- There is a file (in /amiga/demos/euro) called DecaySimpsons.warning which say
- that DecaySimpsonsA.DMS has a virus (Pentagon C, which actually is a bootblock
- virus "protector", but spreads like a virus) on the bootblock. The sender said
- he found it with "Kill da Virus III 1.49". I have no access to this program
- and so I don't have any idea how good it is; for all I know, you took his
- advice, found the virus and got a new version that was clean. In any case,
- when I downloaded the file, I checked it with several virus killers (after
- decrunching it to disk, of course) and while the bootblock was non-standard,
- there was no sign of any known virus on it. I used several recent programs:
- ZeroVirus III, VirusX 4.01, Virus_Checker 5.26 (all 3 of which I got from you
- guys--thanks!) and BootX 3.80d, which I got from Fish Disk 542. The last one
- is definately the nicest and most comprehensive virus checker I have ever seen.
- I definately recommend that you guys upload it. Anyway, I examined the disk,
- memory, etc. with these programs and got nothing--certainly nothing that looked
- like Pentagon C. I suggest you remove the warning file--its only effect is to
- put people on a false lead. (However, a general warning about viruses in
- Eurodemos is prudent and perhaps should be posted.)
- Thanks for providing an unrivaled archive!
