  6. INTRODUCTION

  8. Rolodex/2 is an OS/2 2.x shareware program to store information about people,
  9. companies, etc.  I hope you enjoy it.

  19. Rolodex v2.04  Sizable Screen - The main menu now has a new look.  The window
  20.                                 is sizable and most of the buttons have been
  21.                                 moved to the menu bar.

  28. Copy vrobj.dll to a directory in your libpath.  ex: c:\os2\dll
  29. Copy all other files into any directory you wish.  ex: c:\rolodex
  30. Watcom has release a new version of VX-Rexx so you must replace the
  31. old vrobj.dll from my previous version of Rolodex/2.

  50. SPECIAL FEATURES

  52. If you have IBM TCPIP for OS/2 you can send email and ftp from this program.
  53. I have only tested this with IBM TCPIP v1.2.1.

  55. You can send faxes if you have PSFAX2.

  58. SEACH FUNCTIONS
  59.  
  60. Tight Search will list all the cards that belong to only the groups marked and
  61. exactly match any search criteria you have entered in the search fields.

  63. Loose Search will match all cards that belong to at least 1 of the group and
  64. has part of the string in the search field.

  72. Tight Seach with DELETE group will only delete cards that belong to ALL the
  73. groups marked and exactly match any search criteria.

  78. Remove Groups is a new feature that will remove a card from a group. If a card
  79. does not belong to any group it will then delete the card.

  87. You are free to distribute this shareware version of Rolodex/2 as long as
  88. the following conditions are met:

  90.   1) The distributed archive must contain ONLY the files listed above.
  91.   2) The contents of this archive are NOT MODIFIED in any way.
  92.   3) This version is not to be sold.  However, a reasonable disk copying fee
  93.      is permitted.
  94.   4) This version is not to be bundled with a commercially sold package
  95.      without permission from the author.

  101. HOW TO REGISTER   
  102.  
  103. If you use Rolodex/2 for more than 15 days, you are expected to register
  104. Rolodex/2.  When you register, you will receive the latest version of
  105. Rolodex/2.  Plus information of other great products that I have created.
  106.  
  107. The registration fee is only $20 (US funds).
  108.  
  109. Updates and bug fixes are free but shipping charge may apply.
  110. Major new releases might require a small upgrade fee.  Users who register
  111. Rolodex/2 and provide an e-mail address will automatically receive
  112. updates via e-mail.
  113.  
  114. For e-mail registrations, you need to use a program called "uudecode" to
  115. decode the uuencoded file that I email to you.  For your information,
  116. a uuencoded file is a binary file that is converted to text by a program
  117. called "uuencode".  If your mail system rejects large messages, I will
  118. split the uuencoded file into smaller parts before mailing the parts to
  119. you, and you will need to edit the messages with a text editor before
  120. you can decode them.

  130. Registration of Rolodex/2 is based on personal usage.  Corporate or
  131. organizational users must register all copies used on an individual
  132. basis. A specific person must be explicitly assigned to each
  133. registrant who will be provided with a personalized copy of Rolodex/2.
  134. Registration grants a specific person (not an organization or
  135. corporate entity) the right to use Rolodex/2.  Contact me if you wish
  136. to have a sight licenses, I will work out sight licenses on a case by
  137. case matter.

  145. If you find a bug in Rolodex/2, I would appreciate it if you would inform
  146. me so I can provide better service. When you send me a bug report, include
  147. a description of the procedure for reproducing the bug and a description
  148. of your system configuration(hardware and software).  You can email any

  161. When you select the paste option under the menu, you must have atleast
  162. one character selected.  It will not paste if you just have the cursor in a
  163. entry field with no selected text.

  190. HISTORY

  192. Rolodex v2.03  Sort Option    - You can sort ascending/descend by name, city,
  193.                                 address, phone etc.
  194.                Search Option  - Under the group menu you can now search for
  195.                                 'cards' by tight or loose seach.  Tight seach
  196.                                 will search for an exact match of the string.
  197.                                 Loose search will search to see if the search
  198.                                 string is in the field.
  199.                Report Option  - There are now some standard printed reports
  200.                Software Upgrade This program is written in rexx and using
  201.                                 Watcom VX-Rexx for the GUI interface.  VX-Rexx
  202.                                 is now upto version v1.01a
  203.                Other          - Rolodex/2 now load rolodex.dat file by default.
  204.                                 You can override this by either drag & drop
  205.                                 your *.dat file to rolodex2 or starting the
  206.                                 program with you dat file afterwards.

  210. Rolodex v2.0   Software Upgrade This program is written in rexx and using
  211.                                 Watcom VX-Rexx for the GUI interface.  VX-Rexx
  212.                                 is now upto version v1.01
  213.                Faster Screens - Several screens will appear and disapear when
  214.                                 you start Rolodex/2.  I have improved the
  215.                                 speed of Rolodex2 by hiding/unhiding the
  216.                                 screens.
  217.                Search Options - You can list cards belonging to a group, or
  218.                                 search for a name, address, etc within a group.
  219.                Group Options  - Include search, print, envelops, fax, email,
  220.                                 delete.
  221.                Fax Options    - I add support to PSFAX2 fax software.  You can
  222.                                 it at your local OS/2 ftp site.  I would like
  223.                                 to add more fax software support, but I don't
  224.                                 own a fax modem or fax software.  If you would
  225.                                 like your favorite fax software added send me
  226.                                 some email and I will see what I can do.
  227.                Import Option  - You can now import fixed formated files.
  228.                Cut & Paste    - There is now a cut & paste option on the input
  229.                                 screens.
  230.                Email Option   - You can now import files into your email text.
  231.                More Fields    - There is now a mail name and title.
  232.                Buttons        - There is also Rolodex/2G which is the same
  233.                                 program but instead of text buttons it has
  234.                                 graphical buttons.  You can edit the buttons
  235.                                 with the icon editor that comes with OS/2.

  238. Rolodex v1.4   Group Options  - A person or card can belong to more than 1
  239.                                 group.  You can list, delete, print a group
  240.                                 or a combination of groups.
  241.                Print Options  - You can now print envelops. I also fix & added
  242.                                 labels to phone & notes field.
  243.                Dialing Option - Your modem can now dial work, home, fax, and
  244.                                 BBS numbers.
  245.                                 (I am looking for a simple freeware/shareware
  246.                                 fax program to incorperate into Rolodex/2.  If
  247.                                 you have any suggestions please email me.)
  248.                Export Options - You can export rolodex data in three different
  249.                                 formats.  Comma, fixed format left justified,
  250.                                 fixed format right justified.
  251.                Future Options - I plan to add a search option.  It will list
  252.                                 all the names or cards in a certain field.
  253.                                 I would like to add a simple fax program any
  254.                                 and all help would be appreciated on this.
  255.                                 Plan to add emailing files to users.
