  15.     Thank you for trying Back Again/2, the first professional-quality
  16.     shareware backup software available for OS/2 2.1!

  18.     Back Again/2 is a 32-bit backup utility for OS/2 2.1 that fully
  19.     supports HPFS, long filenames, and extended attributes as well as
  20.     processing files which are currently in use.
  21.  
  22.     All OS/2 logical devices are supported for backup, including but not
  23.     limited to Novell Netware, LAN Server, and NFS network drives,
  24.     floppy diskette drives, Bernoulli boxes, magneto optical devices,
  25.     and more.  In short, if you can do a 'DIR' command against your
  26.     device, you can back up to it.

  28.     For floppy diskettes, Back Again/2 can use a special skewed-sector
  29.     format which, when combined with data compression, can backup 3-4MB
  30.     per minute on 1.44MB drives.  With 2.88MB drives, Back Again/2 can
  31.     easily backup 6-8MB per minute!

  35.     System Requirements
  36.     -------------------
  37.     Back Again/2 is designed to operate on machines running IBM OS/2
  38.     v2.1 or later.
  39.  
  40.     Back Again/2 does not require anything more than the minimum OS/2
  41.     system configuration, although it will run better (faster) when used
  42.     on an greater-than-minimum system.  This generally means the
  43.     following :

  45.         Intel 386/25 CPU or greater
  46.         6MB memory
  47.         VGA display
  48.         One 360KB, 1.2MB, 720KB, 1.44MB, or 2.88MB floppy diskette
  49.         drive.

  52.     Installing Back Again/2
  53.     -----------------------
  54.     If you received this software in compressed (.ZIP, .ARJ, etc.) form,
  55.     simply run the INSTALL.EXE program from the directory where the
  56.     file was uncompressed.

  58.     If you received this software on diskette, simply open the Drive A
  59.     object (there is usually a shadow on your OS/2 desktop) and then
  60.     double-click on the install icon.

  62.     Installation is straight forward.  The default installation path
  63.     is on the system's OS/2 boot drive in a directory called "\BNF".
  64.     You may change this to your liking; we recommend that the software
  65.     be installed on your OS/2 system partition but it does not have to
  66.     be.

  68.     You can also have the installation program create a folder with the
  69.     Back Again/2 user's guide, this read.me file, and the Back Again/2
  70.     program object on the desktop.  Additionally, the installation
  71.     program can create a shadow of the Back Again/2 program on your
  72.     desktop.

  74.     By default, the LIBPATH, PATH, and HELP environment variables set
  75.     in CONFIG.SYS are updated to include the Back Again/2 directory. You
  76.     may uncheck the option if you wish.  If the CONFIG.SYS file is
  77.     updated, the old CONFIG.SYS file will be renamed CONFIG.BNF.

  80.     Configuring Back Again/2
  81.     ------------------------
  82.     You may begin to use Back Again/2 once the installation is
  83.     completed.  However, for optimal performance,  you may want to alter
  84.     the default settings in the preferences notebook.  For further
  85.     information about advanced configuration of Back Again/2, please see
  86.     the online user's guide.

  88.     Changes since v1.00
  89.     -------------------
  90.     Due to a name conflict with a software product for DOS, we have
  91.     changed the name from Back & Forth to Back Again/2.  Also,
  92.     this version corrects problems seen with the original version.

  95.     Registering Back Again/2
  96.     ------------------------
  97.     We had a difficult time deciding how to distribute Back Again/2.
  98.     Initially, we talked about distributing a fully enabled copy as
  99.     shareware but after talking to other shareware authors we decided
  100.     that we would issue a limited demonstration version of the software
  101.     as shareware, with the ability to fully enable it over the
  102.     telephone. As a result, Back Again/2 as shipped is limited to
  103.     backing up 2MB at a time.  No other limitations exist and even with
  104.     the 2MB limit, Back Again/2 is still useful for day-to-day backups
  105.     of small files.

  107.     When you register your copy of Back Again/2 via telephone, we will
  108.     give you a code that will fully enable your copy of Back Again/2 for
  109.     your use until the permanently enabled version arrives on diskette.
