  3. EDITINI Simple Profile Editor for OS/2 2.0

  7. The EDITINI program is a simple editor which can be used to view
  8. and change text entries in the OS2.INI and OS2SYS.INI keyed
  9. files.  The OS2.INI and OS2SYS.INI files provide a convenient
  10. place for programs to store profile information.  However, these
  11. files are stored in binary form and therefore cannot be readily
  12. viewed without a special program.  That's why EDITINI was
  13. created.

  15. EDITINI can be used to view text entries in the OS2.INI and
  16. OS2SYS.INI profiles, and it also provides the ability to change
  17. or delete entries if desired.  (EDITINI does not provide binary
  18. data editing capability.)

  20. To view profile entries, select OS2.INI or OS2SYS.INI from the
  21. choices EDITINI provides in the "Profile" group box.  EDITINI
  22. will automatically look for all Application names and Keynames
  23. for the first Application name it finds when you select either
  24. "OS2.INI" or "OS2SYS.INI".

  26. Type in "Application name" and "Key name" (or select from
  27. available choices) to see the data for an application/key name
  28. pair. The "Text" field will show data for your selections
  29. whenever it can be found.

  31. To add a new profile entry, select the "Application name" or type
  32. in a new name.  Select a "Key name" or type in a new name.  Then
  33. type in "Text" data for this application/key pair, and press
  34. "Add/Change" to add the new entry.

  36. To change the currently displayed entry, type over the "Text"
  37. data for the entry and press "Add/Change".

  39. To delete the currently displayed entry, press "Delete".

  41. Warning:  Only change or delete entries if you are sure you
  42. understand the consequences.  User program and system data in
  43. OS/2 keyed profiles may be damaged if you accidentally corrupt
  44. this data.  (Corrupting OS/2 data could damage your Workplace
  45. Shell customization, for example.)
