  7. The OS/2 2.1 audio filter driver, CDU8002.FLT, will enable the audio mode of 
  8. your SONY SCSI CD-ROM 8002 (also known as Apple CD-150).

  13. This program is based on undocumented data structures. An error in this base 
  14. device driver or in software which uses it can cause your system to lock up and 
  15. require rebooting, resulting in data loss. 
  16. The user is advised always to make adequate Back Ups of all valuable files or 
  17. data. Because he can have no control over how this program is used the author 
  18. accepts no liability for any damage!

  34. Writing this driver has taken a long time and lots of work (because neither 
  35. Apple nor Sony could/wanted to provide technical information). 
  36.  
  37. Therefore this driver is shareware. This means you may try the software for 40 
  38. days. After the trial period, you must pay a small fee if you want to continue 
  39. using the software.

  42. registration section.

  44. You are encouraged to copy and pass on the unregistered shareware version of 
  45. this program, if the program is distributed in its original form (complete, 
  46. unmodified).

  51. Warning:  It is recommended you have an OS/2 boot disk ready, just in case the 
  52. system locks up during the boot process and you want to remove the driver.

  54.  Installation is easy (you don't need to boot from your installation disks to 
  55. install the driver):

  57.  1. Ensure data mode works. If not, install a generic SCSI CD-ROM using System 
  58.     Setup. 
  59.  
  60.  2. Edit your CONFIG.SYS file using the OS/2 System Editor: 
  61.  
  62.         E CONFIG.SYS
  63.  
  64.    o If present, remove the line BASEDEV=SONYCDS1.FLT, since neither your 
  65.      CDU-8002 nor CDU8002.FLT are compatible with this driver. 
  66.  
  67.    o Add the following line: 
  68.  
  69.           BASEDEV=CDU8002.FLT
  70.  
  71.      (No subdirectory name!) 
  72.  
  73.  3. Copy the file CDU8002.FLT to your OS/2 system directory:

  75.         COPY CDU8002.FLT x:\OS2\*.* /V
  76.  
  77.     (where x is your OS/2 boot drive) 
  78.  
  79.  4. Shutdown and reboot your computer. 
  80.  
  81. If all goes well and your CD-ROM is powered on, the driver will beep twice and 
  82. display a rather large shareware information screen. 
  83.  
  84. This screen is the only limitation of the shareware version. 
  85.  
  86. Note:   If no SONY SCSI CD-ROM is present, the driver won't do anything.

  88. This driver may work with other Apple SCSI-CD ROMs made by Sony (?)

  93. The CDU-8002 is not compatible with the CDU-541. If you exchange the EPROM 
  94. chips you will soon note that data mode does not work properly.
