- Version 2.01. July 9, 1992.
-
-
- Highlights/Changes With Version 2.00
-
- 1) EABACKUP and EARESTOR now run stand alone. They no longer require
- EAUTIL.EXE.
-
- 3) Backup of EA's associated with "in-use" files is now allowed. This
- eliminates the requirement of booting OS/2 from floppies to backup
- system files' EA's. Restoring EA's to in-use files is still
- prohibited.
-
- 4) Version 2.00 runs significantly (2-3 times) faster than Version
- 1.01 on both backups and restores.
-
- 5) Version 2 REQUIRES OS/2 2.0 to run. It will no longer run under
- OS/2 version 1.x.
-
- 6) The /P= parameter has been eliminated.
-
- 7) New options /C and /X have been added for EARESTOR (see README.DOC
- section III for more details).
-
- 8) EABACKUP and EARESTOR have been changed to backup and restore the
- EA associated with the highest level backed up directory. Version
- 1.01 only backed up the EA's associated with files and directories
- within and below this directory, not the EA associated with the
- highest level directory itself. If the old behavior is preferred,
- the restore of the highest level directory's EA may be suppressed
- using the (new) /X parameter.
-
-
-
- Note : The backup files produced by EABACKUP Version 1 can be restored
- using Version 2.00 of EARESTOR. Backup files produced by Version 2.00
- however, can not be successfully processed by EARESTOR Version 1.
-
-
- Version 2.01 Update
-
- Two problems were reported with version 2.00 after I uploaded it.
- These are listed below. The problem involving loops and hangs when
- backing up EA's on HPFS formatted drives has no workaround and will
- prevent you from backing up your EA's. Both of the problems have been
- fixed with version 2.01. If you have version 2.00 and you use HPFS or
- anticipate using HPFS in the future you should download the new
- release.
-
- 1) In version 2.00, EABACKUP will loop or hang up while backing up
- EA's on HPFS formatted drives (FAT formatted drives don't exhibit
- this problem). This problem is fixed in version 2.01.
-
- 2) In version 2.00, a protection exception will occur when backing up
- to or restoring from removeable media (such as floppies) if the
- destination (for EABACKUP) or source (for EARESTOR) path
- specification just specifies a drive ID (as in "a:"). A workaround
- for this problem is to specify a "\" as part of the path
- specification (as in : "a:\"). This problem is fixed in Version
- 2.01.
