  14.                      New TE/2 Installation Procedure

  17. To install TE/2, simply extract the contents of the TE2_123.ZIP file
  18. into a temporary directory or onto a floppy disk; change directory to
  19. that path and type "TE2SETUP".
  20.  
  21. TE2SETUP presumes that you have REXX support installed.  If you do not,
  22. see notes below entitled "Manual Installation".
  23.  
  24. TE2SETUP will attempt to preserve your existing TE2.INI and other user
  25. configurable files but, as with any software installation, you are
  26. STRONGLY urged to back up your current setup before proceding!
  27.  
  28. After installing TE/2 via the TE2SETUP program, you may use TE2SETUP to do
  29. some TE/2 configuration.  TE2SETUP presumes that all of the modem setup
  30. files are in a "Modems" subdirectory underneath your TE/2 program
  31. directory; it also assumes that your TE2.INI file is named "TE2.INI"
  32. and that it is similar in structure to the default version of this
  33. file.  Not every TE2.INI file setting can be modified with this
  34. version of TE2SETUP but we hope that the basics have been covered.  For
  35. the less common settings, you will still need to modify TE2.INI directly
  36. with a text editor.

  39.                           Manual Installation
  40.                           -------------------

  42. If for some reason you cannot use TE2SETUP to install TE/2, you may install
  43. manually by following these steps:
  44.  
  45.   1. Create a directory for TE/2, recommended name is x:\TE2 (where "x"
  46.      is the drive letter.  If you already have a previous version of TE/2
  47.      installed, use that directory but BACKUP your files first!
  48.  
  49.   2. Unzip TE2_123.ZIP into your TE/2 directory.
  50.  
  51.   3. Rename the file TE2INST.001 to TE2INST1.EXE.
  52.  
  53.   4. Type "TE2INST1 * /o" to unpack all files and automatically overwrite
  54.      any files with the same name (leave off the "/o" and you will be
  55.      prompted on a file-by-file basis).
  56.  
  57.   5. Delete TE2INST1.EXE.
  58.  
  59.   6. Repeat steps 3.-5. with TE2INST.002.  TE2INST.002 contains the user
  60.      configuration files, you can skip this step if you don't want to
  61.      replace your existing copies.

  63.   7. If you unpacked TE2INST.002, you will need to edit TE2.INI for your
  64.      setup, select a modem file, create a TE/2 program object, etc.  See
  65.      TE2.INF for more information.  You may view TE2.INF using the OS/2
  66.      Information Presentation Facility, VIEW.EXE.  Simply type "VIEW TE2".
