- About this release..
- --------------------
-
- This release is not really what I wanted it to be, but my time is too
- limited, I'm afraid. There are still some known problems (see timed.doc,
- section 'warnings' at the end).
-
- There are, however, also some (annoying) bugs fixed, and important
- features added, so I decided to release it anyway....
-
-
- Docs..
- ------
-
- About timed.doc: it is not really up-to-date yet. The new options in
- beta 9 are not yet documented in timed.doc....
-
-
- OS/2..
- ------
-
- The OS/2 version: as this is my first try at an OS/2 app, it is bound to
- have some problems of its own. There was quite some code that had to be
- changed for the OS/2 version. It has only been tested by a few people.
-
- I decided to release it anyway, as I expect that many people will be
- very happy with it.
-
- It works OK for my beta-testers (and for me), but don't explode if it
- doesn't work for you. Again: it's my first try!
-
- Bug Reports..
- -------------
-
- Of course, timEd has bugs. As a result, I receive bug reports.
-
- Fixing bugs is important (so, if you have problems with timEd/B9, please
- let me know!), but is very time consuming, especially if I don't have
- enough info!
-
- So, when you think you found a bug, please keep the following in mind:
-
- * Things that happen only once, and never again, may be bugs, but can
- never be found. And if it only happens once, it's not really a problem
- anyway :-) I can't do anything with a report of a one-time problem,
- I'm afraid.
-
- * So: try to reproduce the problem, and see if you can do things (maybe
- changes in configs, or whatever) to make it disappear. Try to pinpoint
- the problem as much as possible, so I know where to look in the code,
- and what to look for.
- Sometimes a problem only shows itself when reading one message. In
- that case, try to find out what is different about that message..
-
- * When Squish-style areas are corrupt, strange problems are just around
- the corner. So, if you have problems, first run SQINFO on the areas
- concerned and see if they are corrupt. If they are, run SQFIX and see
- if the problem is still there.
-
- And most important:
-
- * Be as detailed as possible! Tell me _exactly_ what you did before you
- got the error, and give me cuts from your configs, if appropriate.
- I want to have all info needed to reproduce the problem. Once I can
- reproduce the error, solving it is usually relatively easy.
-
- Of course, there are always problems that are not one-time glitches
- (they happen every once in a while), but cannot be reproduced easily.
- But I think you all get my drift.
