  3. Dear Reader,

  5. In  a fit of exuberance and expectation, I reported  in  NEWEI.WS
  6. certain  material  errors.   My apologies  to  Frank  Gaude'  and
  7. Echelon, Inc. and to you.
  8.  
  9. Specifically, I am NOT taking over Echelon, Inc.  My statement to
  10. that effect was in error and the result of a misunderstanding  on
  11. my   part.   I  also  presumed,  in  error,  to  report   Frank's
  12. retirement.
  13.  
  14. Frank  and I are negotiating only for certain assets of  Echelon,
  15. mainly its software products.  This negotiation is still going on
  16. and may be complete in a week or so.
  17.  
  18. In  the interest of accuracy and good business practice,  I  will
  19. have  no  more to say on the subject until our  negotiations  are
  20. complete.  At that time we will make a proper announcement.
  21.  
  22. Please  disregard all of NEWEI.WS and if you are a sysop,  please
  23. remove it from your system.  Thank you very much.
